OMG!!! Just got the exam results from December and I passed both exams!!!!! Not great scores but considering that I had only month to prepare after moving houses while working full time I am soooo chuffed :j

2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Glad to hear you are a better today Claire :).

    Congratulations Marru :j

Well done to those decluttering their lofts - we did ours last year and you would never know it, it seems just as bad as before - grrrrrr

Dreich day here with a wind that would cut you in two.

This morning I have delivered dd to work (half-term here) - she works part-time in a shop and....

have delivered ds to the community venture centre - he is going to have a go at a 6 week employment course, every Monday, 10-1 :T. Just noticed when we were on the bus though that he isn't wearing any socks, his hair needs brushed ( at least he washed it like I told him ) and his fleece has banana on it :rotfl:. It was so much easier when he was little to keep him clean and tidy but he is happy with his appearance so good for him - the rest of the world (including Mum) will just have to suck it up :p.

This is the first time in a year that I haven't had him with me in the house or out and about and much as I love him, it's a lovely respite.

A very low key day planned today - washing, ironing, cooking and some hoovering.

Take care all, will pop in later, Thriftyxxx

    Well done Marru :D

Claire - Glad you're feeling better.

Not much news here. House still a semi-pit after the weekend declutter and I realised if I take all my stuff to CS I won't actually have much to sell at my table top sale :o So I need to hide the boxes in the garage without H noticing :o He whinged loads about the fact I'd started decluttering more than he wanted to (am in the dog house because 2 gym balls I gave away on freecycle - he wanted to keep one back. Why? it's been in the loft for 3 years since I was in labour, does he really think he's going to suddenly get the urge to get it out of the loft?! Honestly can't bloomin' win).
But I digress.........so going to have a quick dash round the house to get it a bit more presentable and then spend a bit of time with the kids.

    Have great days everyone :D

    Congratulations Marru!
  • Awwww Bitsy - you have my sympathy. My oh is exactly the same, let's keep it just in case - arrrgggghhhh. That's fine if you have a big house with lots and lots of space - we don't. My argument, if we haven't used it in X years, why oh why oh why are we keeping it.

Well two loads washing done, one load hung up on airers, veggies prepped for tea (sausages, mash and carrots tonight), homemade veggie soup made and homemade potato salad made. Still to do - ironing, hoovering and maybe some baking - I shouldn't but we'll see.
  • Hehe, it gets 6 months in my place... and I think that's a bit generous :)

I hide it, then I wait 6 months, throw it out and wait for the whining to start. I have to say, not many times have I been found out ;) x

I am a hoarder myself but the loft is groaning under the weight of stuff up there. Put it this way yesterday I found the "foot" to the TV that H couldn't find a month ago. Why? Because it was buried under a mountain of stuff. Everytime we have to get the Xmas decs down they're scattered all over the place so stuff gets missed. We don't have loft ladders so it's not an easy job to pop up there and get stuff down and I think 3 years is long enough to decide whether something is going to get used or not. Besides even if we'd have kept it we've no where to keep it once it's been pumped up.

When we moved into our current house I could remember all the boxes and boxes of stuff we had, not from our possessions around the living space but from the loft! I've chucked my old A Level coursework away (which is pretty ruthless for me ;)) and given the number of baby toys we have in storage (in case I ever look after a child that age) not to mention boxes of stuff that I have as keepsakes for the kids, boxes of CD's and books.......

sorry that turned into a bit of a ramble LOL
