I mean for legs and eyebrows, that area is persona non grata (if thats the right Latin):rotfl:

Oooh I read that the same way Sea did and thought - not telling! :rotfl:

Shaving for legs, plucking for eyebrows. Me and wax really don't get on

  • Eyebrows - tweezers all the way, underarms - shave, for my legs I have an epilator which I felt I *might* be too chicken to use but actually I love. :D

Threading is something i was'nt sure about. SIL has an Asian girl in the salon who does this with amazing dexterity. Does it hurt or is it much the same as plucking?:)

Another fan of epilator for legs, EH I was like you for a start and wondered if I'd dare to use it too. Eyebrows at home tweezers, but like occasional threading to get them nicer. Armpits, shaved but wanting to gradually get used to the epilator, as it's so brill on legs.

This is one of life's ironic acts...

People that could have babies don't want them, and those who deeply crave them are unable to.

    I wonder why... :(

I'm sorry if I have upset anyone with my rants today! x

You are absolutely right - and thank Goodness for technology; Little Boy is an IVF baby and a great advert for technology at that.

But I was thinking that it is more bizzare that that: each of us spends about 15 years worried that we will get pregnant, after that we start worrying whether we can get pregnant, followed by trying desparately to get pregnant. Go figure...

Cherisong, I did think this as well - that a Supreme Being, Nature or something is saying that I should not have children. But then I remembered that if the supreme being had its own way I would have been dead - twice (two ec-topic pregnancies). So I fought back - and as far as I am concerned we are even now.

And all this talk about waxing - honestly, what are you lot like? Can we discuss metaphysics and snow again, please! (For the record I do treading on face; machine under-arm and until recently waxing legs and bikini - post trombosis it is shaving I am afraid; not good). Now metaphysics...

Hurts - but so much worth it.

Threading is WONDERFUL!!!! :D It hurts a teeny bit (not a high pain threshold!!) but much less than waxing and as for tweezering - well, mine can get quite painful as I have proper bushwhacker eyebrows!! :D But if it's an experienced threader, it's a few zip zip zips and it's all gone. Love it!

HEHEHEH That made me laught Cheery :)

That reminds me of a blood test I had once at the hospital...

Trainee, NVQ assessor, normal nurse... and me!

And we all know blood tests involve removing jumper, so it is already on a losing streak

Well, she was scared, I was shaking! I asked if I could lay down, she said she'd never done one like that before so no i couldn't!

    So: I sat down, shaking.

She put the thingie on my arm and told me to stop shaking.

The nurse offered to hold my arm still - I cried, and shook!

Trainee looked at the form so see how many doodahs she needed to fill.

3 came the response. I shook some more. Trainer checked, and said - no 5... I shook a bit more, screamed, and jumped out of the chair filled with terror... knocked nursey out of the way and ran towards the exit...

BAD MOVE! I was wearing quite high, new boots! I slipped over running around the corner and broke my ankle!

Next: In casualty with blood nurse - trainee doc sends me off for xrays and stuff... I come back, he tells me it's broken, and sorts out someone to do the plaster, the cheeky chappy says "I'll do your blood sample if you like!"

NOT A CHANCE. They never did get my blood!

So I don't think the implant is the way to go either.

I will brave one little injection in my arm 4 times a year if I must though. I've heard rumours they like to put it in your butt... but as that would involve removing clothes, that's a NO NO!

Oh dear, I must be less nervous mustn't I!

    TMIF - I'm so sorry but I just love this:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl::rotfl:

Would make one of those comedy sketches on the telly- and you'd never believe it would happen in real life!!!

Cheri & Crickett what fantastically positive attitudes you do have - it's a heck of a thing you have to deal with and yet your method of facing it is inspiring. I wish more folk would take that approach rather than feeling that it is their right to be able to have kids, regardless of whether their body is right for it or not. It's a subject I feel strongly about!

I'm on the other side of the coin - I have known since I was very young that I have no desire whatsoever for kids. Good luck to those that do, it's a good job there are enough of you about to keep the world going, but it's not for me. I've encountered some amazingly hostile reactions to that in the past too - I've literally had people telling me that I am "not normal", or that there must be something wrong with me, and have regularly been accused of being selfish! I'm actually relieved that, the age I am at now, if people hear that you don't have kids they don't usually feel as though they can probe as deeply as they would really like in case it turns out that you've tried, but can't, as then of course they, the questioner, would feel embarassed. People also assume that you must dislike kids, which for me isn't true at all - I love spending time with our nieces and nephews, and for some reason our little 6 year old niece adores me! :D I'm the same kind of aunt as you Cheri - we always make sure we buy at least one present for each that's totally impractical and usually noisy to boot :D
EH I think that is why I am so philosophical as I grew up saying that I would never have chlidren (apparantley I first said it when I was 4 years old). Funny thing is that my Mum said to me (in her last days) that I always said I never wanted children and when i corrected her and said no I said I would never have children and there is a difference between wanting and having I surprised myself. Perhaps it was the universe listening to me that got me there or maybe I just always understood that I wasnt destined to be a Mum and I truly believe that I would have not been good at being a Mum.
As for the comments etc you are so right. People think it is their right to judge other women based on expectations and you are so right to stand up for yourself and stick to what is right for you. I used to get so annoyed when people thought it was ok to comment. In fact one girl I worked with did it a lot until one day I stopped her in her tracks by telling her that I couldnt have children. She was mortified. She later got married and confided to me that people asking all the time about her getting pregnant had started to make her feel very anxious and she was so sorry for being inconsiderate to me all those years before.

FW - see my note above. I completely agree with what you are saying and I am so pleased that you fought back.

:rotfl::rotfl: I am a lady, I dont talk about such things (waxing that is. As a complete air brain I dont do metaphysics either)

wanders off to google metaphysics ..............what is it?
