MG - do you have a LETS scheme near to you? It is a scheme where people give their time and skills and bank the hours to claim other jobs back. It might be worth looking into for the carpentry work. You may need to do something first I am not too sure but definitely worth looking into. The other way around it would be to offer to do some kind of admin type stuff for the carpenter in exchange for a cheaper price. Did that amount include the materials? If so can you get the materials cheaper yourself elsewhere and just pay for the labour and get them to do the fiddly bits.Try Freecycle for the materials too.

Clare - been thinking about you since 5. Glad the news is good for now. I am sure that he will respond to the treatment if you keep up the bathing. Lavender oil is also very good for any infections, add a couple of drops to the salt water.

Mrs Hicks -((hug)) for the wisdom teeth. I had three out in one go once, horror stories had me terrified but it wasnt as bad as I expected. Just had to have soup for days. Hope you have lots of nice soft food - always a good excuse to eat nice things like mashed potatoes, ice cream etc.

Everybody else - thanks for the uplifting that is going on. Especially liked Fantasias post re mens wonderbriefs. Do you think they were feeling left out?

Well my house smells like a swimming pool, but at least everything is sanitised so less chance of infection getting worse, He has taken an antibiotic no problems (wrapped up in a bit of meat) so just need to bathe it now, have put a towel on the settee for him to lie on, (easier to clean, thank god I have leather settee's.)

Just need to do kitchen floor now.

Is there anything else I can do to help him ??? Poor DS2 has been really upset tonight cause he thought his dog was going to sleep :( I know it will happen eventually but if I can help him be here for a bit longer all the better (we has Jack a few weeks after DS2 was born so he has always been with him )

DH is taking ds2 to Asda to choose a pizza to cheer him up :)

Phoned mum and been next door and they were all like "thank god for that lol"

Aww Claire, I really feel for DS. I was brought up with my Grandad's GSD. They got her when I was 2 and had her till I was 15. We were best pals. It broke my heart when she went to sleep.
I would say just try to keep things as normal as possible. Seems you are doing all the right things by making him as comfortable as you can and spoiling him. Just need to keep on doing that. The lavender oil I suggested will help to relax him as well as cleaning his lump. Maybe if you put some on his brush when you are brushing him down as well, it will be like a mini massage for him. And it might help the medical smells :)

    Big hugs to you all.

    edited to add.
I dithered over posting this Claire but decided to do so because I know that it helped me and I have given it to a few friends who say that it helped them. It might be useful for your DS to have a read of if you think it will help him.

WARNING - THIS WILL BRING A TEAR TO YOUR EYE LOOK AWAY NOW IF YOU DONT WANT TO HAVE A CRY

If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must done,
For this last battle can't be won.
You will be sad - I understand,
Don't let your grief then stay your hand,
For this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship will stand the test.

We've had so many happy years,
What is to come – can have no fears,
You'd not want me to suffer so,
When the time comes, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend,
Only stay with me until the end,
And hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

Finally in time you too will see,
It is kindness you do to me,
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Don't grieve that it should be you
Who has to decide this thing to do,
We've been so close, we two those years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Good idea about the LETs scheme Cheri! You usually don't have to put anything in first, the system only works if half the people are in 'credit' (have taken out more than they've yet put in, as it were) at any point, so they're more than happy! Carpenters are usually high in demand too. Certainly worth asking - even if you land up paying some money, some through LETs, it'll work out cheaper (might also be some other stuff available you could use that you hadn't thought of?!)

Bitsy have you looked at the Paul McKenna Weightloss plan? nothing is restrictive so you don't get that fixation! its based on 4 golden rules
    1. Only eat when you are hungry
    2. Eat what you actually want and not what you think you should
    3. Eat consiously - eat slowly and chew your food and savour each and every bite
    4. When you are full STOP eating

Asda are doing the book and a mind-reprogramming/hypnotherapy CD for £7 - I bought it last night and stuck the CD on as I went to bed - I was asleep in about 4 seconds tho :D DH text me today and said well did the cd work? are you skinny? I text back 'No, not skinny - but I think I'm a chicken :rotfl:

So my challenge started last wednesday - change my eating habits with a view to losing weight! think it may take 100 years rather than days tho! I'll just take it one salad at a time ;)

Hello, I was directed here by someone on the Flylady thread. I am sorry about your dog claire but pleased he has come home to you for a bit longer :) We lost ours after 16 years so I know how it feels.

My story is that I am trying to get off benefits by starting my own business. Today I was refused finance, yet again, and I feel as though I am not getting anywhere at the moment. I was very upset this morning but I have to admit thinking that whatever the decision it is the right one for a reason. Probably the best idea is to start again phoning around all the banks.
business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527
