  • Hi All - positive vibes coming from here too Gemmzie - hopefully the car will live to fight another day. God luck with the cat wee eradication Claire - remember if someone DOES not knock at the door invite them in but smile sweetly and apologise for the smell as "one of the cats had a little accident this morning" - chances are they'll not be able to smell anything anyway as you're far more sensitive to any smells in your own home than anybody else will be. Good luck for the promotion smcshane - more positive vibes for you! :DBitsy - that's FABULOUS news - well done to you! :j:j

  • Hi All

MG - I am sure you have all of your travel arrangements sorted out for Saturday but it occured to me that if you are travelling down on Saturday then I *think* your train would pass through the station near me. If so and you don't already have a lift organised PM me and I will (well OH really as he is giving me a lift to the course on Satday) pick you up and drive from here straight to the course. :)

Helen - good to hear from you again and also that the christening went well.

Gemmzie - positive vibes for you Grr! Pesky problems with cars, after paying a small fortune to get mine repaired last month I have to MOT and Tax it this month. Will be most upset if there is anything else that needs repairs as it has had about £1000 spent on it since last year. :(

scottishlass - sorry to hear about your wasted journey for the flat - there will be a much better one that is just right for you

Apologies to all I've missed off but timer has just pinged so my tea is ready... it's been a long day... om nom nom

Gemmzie - fingers crossed that the repairs are not expensive. Is a car-free life an option? Sounds daft in this day and age but we did this for several years when ds was a baby - boy were we fit - spent loads of time on public transport though....

Unfortunately not thrifty, I live in Cornwall so public transport is crap and expensive. It would cost me about £10 a day in buses to get to work and take over an hour (takes 20 minutes to drive). Plus my other job requires me to have a car (carry equipment/young people a lot) but they do give me an allowance towards it per year which will be helpful now :)

Thanks for the offer hon - but going down on the Friday and back home on the Saturday - I have this horror of not being on time for one of my own events.

Hpefully the snow will wait till Sat night when I get home to my boys.

    Good morning,

I think after trying to get rid of the smell I will have the cleanest floors in the street :) have re washed bathroom and kitchen floors with the vinegar solution, just waiting for them to dry, so I can change the water and start the living room, Ds2 pulled out the settee's before he went to school for me :)

Next door is taking me to argos, to change the hoover, to save me struggling to carry it. so the test will be when I get back in whether it will have worked and the smell gone. Do you think it will be an idea to open the window a bit? see if that helps?

  • Anyone who has to go anywhere today - please take care out there.
  • No snow in Plymouth this morning - but there hardly ever is :( The car was thick with ice tho... I take it to work on Thursdays because it's Christmas shopping day, and the buses are even worse than usual.

Why are Drs so annoying. I tried to make an appointment last Friday, and was told he had no bookable appt's til 6th December!!! She said to try on Monday when you could book one for that day. Frustratingly I overslept, and woke up at 8.02! Tried to ring. Engaged til 8.25. Full! She said try today (Thursday) Full again - but at 8.10 today! It's now urgent, I have 1 tablet left, and he won't just do a repeat prescription because I did that last time. Apparently, I can see the emergency doc tomorrow, but that's not really the same is it... Great! It's not even like I didn't try to plan ahead.

Anyway, I wanted to talk about having the injection instead of the pill... I have quite high blood pressure, which has never bothered me before - but after mum's stroke, it's one small thing I can do to reduce my risk... well that and losing weight (3lb so far - but I reckon that's the jumper I was wearing!)

    Dam, dam and double dam!

Do you know I still smile everytime I see the big gold stamp from MG's parcel. I stuck it to my screen at work - and it makes me grin when I notice it. Sad aren't I!

Time to start job hunting I think... need something more.. juicy. My brain is melting with the boredom x

tellmeitsfriday - pah to your docs! Do you have a family planning centre near you? They often have drop ins, and are usually bettter equipped to talk about such things than the docs! :) (I assume that's the kind of injection/pill you're talking about, apologies if it's not! :))

    haha, yeah it is...

My doc is really nice, quite young, and therefore popular sadly - therefore he's always booked up.

If I manage to get an appt with him tomorrow, I am happy that he knows what he's on about. I spent a couple of hours researching with with my friend google last night anyway... Apparently the effect on blood pressure is less, but it can make you gain even more weight than the pill. I think I'm gonna have to let him decide which is the least bad for my health. I will soon be old enough to have something a bit more permanent done :j

I save the FPC for the 3 yrly torture. I couldn't do that at the docs because the nurse is my mum's friend! Funny aren't I!

Also my blood pressure is so squiffy, that I don't think the FPC would do it with out checking with my doc. Not only is it higher than average generally, I also panic at the docs so it's uber high when they check it! (My best was 220/140!!!) Usually it's about 135/80.
