  • This has to be a contender for "Thread of the year".....

Saving fuel by turning the heater off?......... Marvelous
  • The same people who whinge about saving 0.1% worth of fuel, by leaving the heater or AC off, are usually the same people who haul around everything including the kitchen sink in their boot, lol.

I have my side of the car set at 22 degrees and my wife has hers set at 20. Whenever she drives, she adjusts it down to 20 and I adjust mine up to 22. A little game we play!

You mean she doesn't whack it all the way up to 60 so that it warms up faster? :p

Unfortunately, the amount of petrol you use up looking for cheap garages when you are out and about negates any savings.......

If only someone would make a website to help with that sort of thing. :D

Put your heater on and put your F*CKING lights ON!!! It's does NOT cost you more fuel!!

Anything on the car that uses electricity will use fuel.

Whether extra cost is worth bearing, considering the benefits, is open to discussion.

In women-land, thermostat is just a rotary on-off
switch with silly numbers written on it.

You usually don't need the fan on for heating either, certainly in my car you can have the fans set to off and the air will still come through the vents, just blown by the motion of air through the engine, so you don't really notice unless you're on the motorway.

In any case, having the heater on is completely insignificant, so much so it can be regarded as zero cost. Without the heater you're much more likely to be cold and not concentrating and have a crash! Which would cost much more than the 2p's worth of petrol per year it costs to run.

As well as having iced / misted up windows, which is clearly dangerous.;)
