Morning:D
no lie in here either:o
OH is going to his mates today to do computer fixing so DS and I have the house to ourselves. Sometimes this is easier as DS is best with one to one. He had a huge meltdown yesterday as one of the bulbs in his traffic lights went out and you cant replace it. Prob from all the throwing about it gets.....anyway he wanted a real traffic light that you use outside:eek:could not understand at all why i couldnt do that and buy one:o:p
Having breakfast with DS soon, then will feed OH and get him out so DS and I can have snuggle time.
Did braising steak in SC yesterday and just need to put pastry lid on and do veg.
Have found somewhere who can get my veil to me in less than 2 weeks so sorting that today.
Going to introduce DS to the film Babe...hoping he loves it as talking animals usually go down well with him.;)
Also got a santa letter kit at local poundshop type place and we are doing that together.
:rotfl:at everyone laughing at Fatcats size yesterday......she has been on a diet from the vet and lost half a pound in 4 months:cool: so I give in.....she only has a small bit of tinned tuna and cat biscuits weighed out in the morning.....doesnt bother with treats or anything.....she is just well built and big boned.....oh and very lazy;)
Happy Birthday to Hester:bdaycake:watch you don`t bruise those knees again girl;):p
Bitsy...glad Mia settled ok....how do you do your cinnamon traybake?
JackieG I think the lights get turned on in Sheffield today but DS finds it a bit busy and gets stressed out..will take him another day once the fuss has died down a bit0 -

jackieg - enjoy your lights switch-on
Ooooh get a warm fuzzy feeling as Christmas is nearly here (OK for me Christmas starts 1st Dec LOL). Can't wait woo hoo!
NPM - glad you've sorted out your veil. I really can't wait to see some wedding pics of you in that gorgeous dress
Hope Noah enjoys Babe. Do you think he'd like Cats and Dogs? That's got talking animals in it.
Sorry NPM I really must stop skim reading
I think cinnamon traybake came from Bargainbird.
Here's recipe
225g plain flour (although I used SR and it was fine)
1 tsp baking powder (I omitted this using SR Flour)
7g cinnamon
225g marg or butter
225g brown sugar (I used white OK
)
4 eggs beaten.
Sift all dry ingredients in one bowl. Cream butter and sugar in another bowl. Add dry ingredients to wet a little at a time. Beat well and add a bit of milk if needed to make a soft dropping consistency.
Only I did none of that, bunged it all in the bowl and beat it to death LOL. Worked out OK and tastes lovely for breakfast

Happy birthday Hester!!! hope you have a fab day  xxHave decided to buy a dishwasher.

Gers - My DW is so handy, and it's just me here (mostly
). It came with my flat and I resisted using it for 6months but then had loads of washing up to do before a long holiday and a free DW tablet so thought I'd use it and I've never looked back! I use it twice a week, maybe 3 times, and haven't noticed a difference in my electricity cost. My water is odd as we are billed as a block annually so not sure how it affects that. But I would honestly be lost without mine!I'm up too and quite possibly have the worst cold ever!!
Jc - have I passed my lurgy on to you?!
Hope you feel better soon. My cold only lasted 3 days so hopefully yours will go soon xxjackieglasgow wrote: »meant to say to Flutterby there was a vegetarian Christmas thread floating around yesterday which had quite a few recipes on. I am not mad for nut roast and don't have one myself though!
Thanks Jackieg! I'll lookie for that thread now

Finely chop an onion & 5-6 mushrooms & saute til softflutterbyuk25 wrote: »ps anyone got a good, easy to make nut roast recipe? I know there a few veggies on board so wanted a tried and tested one as I've never made it before. I'm looking at doing it for xmas day
Hello, here is a recipe which I've been using every Christmas since I was 11 (I'm 42 now!). Its really simple to do & tasty. I have to do a double batch because the meat eater expect some too. Its also fab served cold at tea time or on Boxing Day with pickles, dips, salad, etc.
I posted this recipe on another thread yesterday, so hopefully it will be of use/interest to people who are looking for a veggie receipe.

Mix this in a bowl with the following:
4oz/100g grated strong cheese
2/3 generous heaped desert spoons of peanut butter
a good sprinkle of fresh finely chopped parsley (must be fresh not dried if you can)
2/3 table spoons of soy sauce
2/3 table sppon of lemon juice
4 oz/100g of finely chopped/ground peanuts (not salted. Use red skin ones preferably)
4 oz/100g of finely chopped sunflower seeds
Mix this all together thoroughly. If it seems a bit dry, add some more liquid, if its a bit too moist add some mor dry ingredients. Your aiming for a consistency which you can handle & form into burger shapes.
Now make into burger/patties - make them by hand if you can so they look nice & home made.
You can either coat them in bread crumbs & saute or, as I prefer to do, grill them for afew minutes on each side.
These are so tasty & filling. Your guests will appreciate the effort you've gone to, but the beauty of this is that you can prepare them in advance, even the day before & cook on the day. I tend to grill them about half an hour before dishing up time & then keep them warm in the bottom of the oven in foil so they don't dry out.
I don't know if they freeze well or not cos they never ever hang around long enough to find out.0 -
morning all - shattered today. ds's tummy was bad twice in the night. bless him he slept through it but got annoyed when he woke him to change his pyjamas. two lots of his bedding to wash as it soaked through to that as well
poor mite.no idea what upset it this time. will be glad to it sorted. he's still asleep but not going to wake him.
just meant a restless night for me. alan was out like a light as soon as his head hit the pillow. i've had a migraine lurking a few days and i fear its about to take hold:( once the boys are awake i'm going to hop back into bed.
other than that not much happening here. alan is cooking today. probably a roast of some sort. still lots of washing to catch up with. have can two and a half people make so much?? well ds makes the most as he often goes through several changes of clothes from his bad tummy
hope everyone is well
