Then you can start the connection up manually or install generic connection software for you make and model of modem.
Worked like a charm, thank you.
Ideally I'd like to delete the Orange software from the dongle and replace it with a generic connection manager so my dongle will automatically load up the right software if I'm using it on another machine. But I guess that is complicated?0 -
Just install the 3 connection manager on the new machine.
You would need to know the make and model of your modem in order to find a suitable Dashboard.0 -
Phew, done it at last.
My dongle was provided by Orange. Every time it's plugged into a new computer it installs Orange's (awful) Internet Everywhere software. Having ditched Orange, I wanted to update the dongle so that it did not try and install Orange's Internet Everywhere.
I was advised to download Huawei's "Mobile Partner" software and told this would update the dongle software. It didn't.
Now I realise there are two versions of the Mobile Partner software: one version simply installs Mobile Partner on your computer and doesn't go anywhere near your dongle. And at last I've found the other version of Mobile Partner. It replaces whatever connection software is on your dongle (Orange in my case) with Mobile Partner.
Then whenever you plug your dongle into a new computer Mobile Partner installs itself. Mobile Partner (which is Huawei's generic dongle connection software) can connect you to whatever network your dongle's SIM is for.
This is where you will find the software that will install Mobile Partner on your dongle. http://3g-modem.wetpaint.com/page/Huawei+E1750,+E17520 -

Actually, you'll find that the Dashboard will de-brand the modem.
The are three possibilities. Connection Manager, Dashboard and Firmware.
The last two will de-brand.
Didn't post a Dashboard nor firmware as I didn't know the generic brand and model of your modem. Plus you gave the impression that you were sticking with Orange, in the other thread.0 -

This is called "Flash" upgrade & sometime you may need Flash Code to upgrading the different versions of Mobile Partner. You can generate both Unlock code & Flash code by using the link which mentioned at first post of this Tread.0 -

Hi,
I have an old Vodafone PAYG dongle - it is a "K3565 HSDPA USB Stick".
Please can you confirm whether the method above would work okay to unlock this one?
At the moment it has no SIM at all as I threw away the old Vodafone PAYG one when it expired.
What I'd like to do is to unlock this one so I could use it with Three (3) - I am thinking about taking out the One Plan with Three and removing the 3 Sim from the phone to use in the dongle for mobile broadband.
If I can unlock this, it would save having to buy a separate 3 dongle.
As I don't have any SIM cards at the moment for it (Vodafone or 3) will I be able to still unlock it without a SIM?
Do I have to install the Mobile Partner thing before I try to unlock it? If so pls can anyone talk me through that - I'm not very techie...
Many thx.0 -
Hi,
Sorry, further to above post I just found an old Orange SIM (I don't think it's an active one though). Have put the SIM in and got the code from the site.
But when I plug the Vodafone dongle in (with the Orange SIM inside) it loads the Vodafone connection panel thing and then just says "no device". How do I get to the place where I need to input the NCK/unlock code please....?! Or do I need to install the Mobile Partner thing first and if so how as this dongle doesnt have a connection? Clueless, sorry!

No need to have a SIM inside the dongle, but the dongle does need to be fully installed.
Do you have the IMEI and the generated unlock code?0
