I'm Looking for a cheap contract phone deal

Hi everyone.

I've ben with Orange for about 4 years now. I suppose I would be classed as a low user and I send no more than 100 texts per month.

My current tarrif is an Anytime 60 which I pay £13.60 before tax.
I also have a text 60 bundle which is £3.40 before tax.

My average phone bill is about £21.00.

I am looking for a similar monthly payment but which is Cross Network and possibly with more minutes and or messages. I don't want a cashback deal as I don't want to have to pay a large amount up front then have to claim it back.

I have tried scouring the web but it's a minefield out there!

Am I looking for the impossible

Thanks in advance for any advice or pointers given.

Lots availbale depending on what you want.

Firstly it might be worth telephoning orange retentions/cancellations to see what they can offer...

    Do you need a phone?

If not, Virgin do a sim only contract (30 days mimimum term) which offers 300mins and 300 texts for £10 per month if you are an NTL customer or £15 per month if you are not....

go to three. you get a decent phone and 18 month half price line rental eg 15 QUID A MONTH. 300 mins 1000 texts. double mins and texts for the first six month. go thru quidco and you get a 100 notes for your pocket , cant be beaten. stay away from the refurbished v3x tho they got terrible reviews
you can get a brand new lgu890

or for a low user, flext 20 is an option (currently £15 per month)

170 anynetwork minutes or 340 texts or any combination in between.
Click here to see how it works

For your use you could easily get 120 any nwtwork minutes and 100 texts. This can vary from month to month as you will simply get £34 'credit' applied to your account to use for minutes/messages. 1 x-net min = 20p, 1 text = 10p

Downside is you are tied in for 18 months

I've just checked out the 3 site. I quite fancy the Nokia 6280 but it says it's refurbished. Are refubished phones OK?

i never tried a refurbished phone, but i think they should be ok. they just ones that have been returned after 14 day grace period. and you get full twelve month manufacturers warranty. check out gsmarena.com for user reviews. and remember to go thru quidco for you free 100 sheets

  • Hello -I too am on the lookout for a sim deal - have been scouring this site for what seems like ages now - have had some great help from one or two people - who are helping me - but I could not find the Virgin offer you were talking about - 10 pounds ifyou are ntl 15 pounds if not .... could you give me more info please? Thank you. Orange by the way wont care if you leave - I told them today I was leaving - and they said fine !!
  • Hi Maggiemoon

Orange by the way wont care if you leave - I told them today I was leaving - and they said fine !!

Just got off the phone from Orange myself.

Told them about the deal I have just found on the 3 website - 600 X Network mins (300 after 6months) 2000 texts (1000 after 3months) loads of other stuff and all for £15 a month for 18 months.

Asked orange if they would price match. Best offer was 500 X Network minutes with unlimited text for £35 per month.

He didn't seem that bothered about me leaving and going with 3!

He did suggest that I ring back in the morning and speak to customer relations but his final words were "I wouldn't hold my breath"

    Not very promising I feel:mad:

  • Crazysaver - to insult to injury - the coverage is really poor in our area at the moment - so I cannot even use my free mins- but they were so horrid this morning - when I told him about the 3 deal - he said - ah well, the coverage is really bad ...(!!) and cash backs ... oh dear .... but if you want to go there - I will pass you onto Redemptions - or soemthing like that. Clearly Orange dont care any more for some reason. I like the look of the Virgin offer - will ring them tomorrow - I have got a really good person helping me as well - from this site - you are soo kind out there!!
