Sorry to revive an old thread, and I hope the OP is sorted out, but what on Earth were some people thinking when suggesting Garstang to someone working at Warton.

    The mind truly boggles.

By the way, I would suggest Warton ;)

I guess it depends on the OPs priorities. I took them to be asking for the nicest area that was within a reasonable travel distance, although might have got the wrong end of the stick :)

My husband worked on a project in Warton for several years, and I was always envious of his easy commute. It only took 20-25 mins, and I honestly can't ever remember there ever being any major incidents/delays.

Me on the other hand, I am forever having to reroute to avoid traffic issues and accidents etc. Plus it is generally so much busier for where I work that it is a horrible journey (even though I only travel 8 miles it can take 1.5 hours in winter).

In fact I've just joined the gym at Ribby Hall, which is less than 5 mins from Warton. I chose it because it's such a quick and easy trip from Garstang (A586/A585) - so no excuses for not going!!

For a lovely village type of location, I'd still vote for Garstang. The only place I can think that would be better (and should have suggested before sorry!) is Wrea Green. As that is obviously only 5 mins from Warton if that. We tried to get a house there when we moved but there was little coming up and nothing was what we wanted. If you get chance of anything suitable in Wrea Green, snap it up ;)
