  • like ellay says- just think about the aftereffects- it could really turn nasty if you go off and do it- and that may be really hard to handle.
i couldnt imagine doing it, but i get why its done

Just realised I missed your post about wearing jeans and the 3 of you going out after....a little while back on here there were some gorgeous pics from a lady who'd married in casual clothes and had a picnic in the park afterwards. Can't remember her name now but I do remember thinking how happy and relaxed it all looked. Will see if I can find it or maybe some of the other regulars will remember

Thanks - I suppose their are a lot of issues that I haven't gone into that have bought me to want to do it in this way. Since having my boy nearly 3 years ago we haven't had a night out as no one really helps us with him for various reasons. I love my family but not having the outside help or breaks that some people get has sort of pushed us into a little unit of 3 if that makes sense. I am not even going to tell my work until I go in after and e-mail HR to inform them of my name change. I'm sure people will think i'm a weirdo!

No you're not at all weird...at the end of the day all that matters is you, your OH and your little lad.
Btw I knew I'd find it eventually...this is the thread I mentioned before, no fancy stuff going on in this but everybody looks so happy...OK so they had some family there but there's no rule says you have to, go with what you really want and are both comfy with

go with what feels right- remember its about the marriage not the wedding! i think that gets lost in todays society!

There are so many times in my life when I feel like a freak and this is one of them - why don't I ever want the things that normal people want.

The first post I made suggest money is an issue - although we haven't got the money even of we did I still wouldn't want the "proper wedding" and I couldn't even really have a "proper wedding" anyway due to what my family and his are like. It would never be as nice as other peoples weddings. I can't really make sense of any of this myself writing it down here has seemed to have bought out some deeper issues that I don't even get or really know what they are.
  • wat is stopping you just booking registry office by your selfs?

Hey..who are you calling normal??? :rotfl::rotfl:
We're all different....while most people think it's quite cool one of my friends thinks I need my head feeling for wanting to get married at a Zoo. I was also planning to wear purple dress which got me some strange looks...have revised plans now but not to be normal, just cos another option presented itself to me and I'm going with that instead
You only have to read some of the stories on here to know there's no such thing as normal - everybody has their own quirks, dont worry about yours, just enjoy them :)

I don't want to upset my Family and close friends and i'm worried it may do that. Also I need 2 witnesses so do I pick 2 people I know like my Mum and his Mum - but then if my Mum is there my Sisters will want to be and so on and so forth. So difficult.
