100 yards = 84 meters
Going more off topic on this, but many RoadChef services have replaced their Wimpys with "The Burger Company" who now offer a "4Oz burger" and an "8Oz burger". When you ask them for a quarter pounder they don't know what the hell you are talking about. I could understand that when the person serving me was a spotty 17yr old, but the last time it was a woman who looked about 50.
For the youngsters, 16Oz = 1lb, therefore a quarter of a pound is 4 ounces. Christ I'm only 31, wasn't taught pounds and ounces in school and I still know this stuff. I couldn't tell you how many chains in a furlong or any of the other really stupid imperial measurements but the basic ones that are still in regular use really ought to be common knowledge.0
