Well no news here really.... Solicitor phoned needing buildings insurance cert so I had to make calls to get that faxed to them as there is no way i am getting out. They need a CHAPS payment of solicitors fees and I can't get to the bank so need to get thinking cap on with that one as bank of scotland being incredibly unhelpful and insisting I have to do it in branch not over telephone so boo hssss. I will think of something no doubt involving me actually having to go out with 2 kids into a blizzard or something while OH swans off to work.
The house we are buying the seller has apparently bought another house and entry date was last friday so a bit concerned about empty house in this weather but solicitors say it should be ok as usually people with use the overlap to have a chance t clean and decorate new house then do a gradual move once thats done. The person buying this is coming from rented so hoping we have a thaw and movers here bright and early in 8 days time......
I am currently doing a nice little online shop for 1st thing the saturday in new house. Think i will add some UHT milk to order for in case we get this again this winter.. New house is in a city but its a cul de sac just off a main road which is a bit of a hill so I wonder about that in the snow, the drive is a bit of an incline too.
OH got stranded in work.. IDIOT... apparently he has walked along to my sisters work and is waiting on her brining him closer to home, she finished at 4 but god knows what the raods are likeMF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -
I think its time to cut out the incessent chatter and concentrate on the task in hand. OH went to work again today so no comment. It was -14 at one point last night. OH was the best daddy in the world though because when he did get home he brought with him 2 red sledges so obviously in the kids eyes he is fantabulous. In mine its just another couple of bits of plastic we need to move.
Anyway a week today movers will be here. ooo lala. My plans for today are...... Continue with online shop to new house on move day, we fully intend on a takeaway for actual tea but will need milk etc for the morning. Our freezer will be off from about wednesday so I doubt we will have any fresh food left other than a random pint of milk that will actually move with the house. Our new house kitchen has been designed around a large american style side by side fridge freezer. When we viewed the house the seller said her new house was fully integrated appliance wise and she was thinking of just leaving it as its all plumbed into mains for water/ice. When we signed the legal stuff a clause stated specifically the FF wasn't included in sale. Our current FF would look silly in the gap but would do KWIM but it has switched itself off twice in last week and i've found a puddle on the floor. Fridge is OK but freezer thermosat appears to have issues so replacment is now turning to a nessesity in near future rather than a want.
I am waffling....
I plan to finish shop taking into consideration probably lack of freezer, research an instant access savings account to use as a virtual sealed pot, another for adding random 1 off payments too like amounts under on grocery or fuel spends for making monthly OP's and adding extra income over and above what we expect to get each month like overtime bonuses, halifax reward etc. It would also be nice to have a few 'pots' for things like MOT's, car insurance etc.
We back with bank of scotland, mortgage with halifax ad they use the same internet banking platform so ideally I will choose savings pots there too. My wages currently go into santander account, considering switching that to my halifax reward account as I hate the santander and all that happens is I pay the DD's and then transfer the remaining cash to halifax anyway for spends.
Mum just called, she is attmpting Mr A's and then will try get a bag of shopping into me.
So to surmise my waffle. look at fridge freezers, finish online shop, look at savings accounts.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -
well I acheive something yesterday.... Mum made it over and brought food
. I completed an order for new house, just the basics plus alcohol. I think i have decided to open 2 halifax web savers at 2.5%. One for random cash deposits (like the £5 rewards) and profit from mystery shopping and another to be a virtual sealed pot for a one off OP at end of 2011. I plan to use a 2.0% Halifax Guaranteed Saver Reward to put the cash for MOT's, Car Tax, servicing an insurance as it allows unlimited withdrawals without loss of interest where as the websaver only allows one withdrawal without penalty.
I have decided to switch my current account as well, considering FD mostly because of the 8% regular saver but with looming maternity leave and the pressures of 1st year in a larger house plus the assorted 'stuff' we will need to aquire... I had a thought, large garden means we will need a lawnmower and it have hedges all around so a trimmer of sorts. I have posted on freecycle but nothing so far.. unfortunatly both sets of parents have slabbed/monoblok gardens so there is nothing to borrow, my dad thinks he has a lawnmower that hasn't started for about 6 years but if he has its in his garage which is snowbound.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -
Hi LP
Snow came on Weds night thick and fast and is now all gone! Lasted 3 days including the ice and slush, nothing again now. Its still cold here, and theyre saying its going to get colder but not on a par with your -14! Got to work all the way through the 4 shifts, although scared the life out of myself on Thurs morning on a roundabout. Slid along on the snow and hit the curb, no damage but think my tracking will need looking at as I smacked the front nearside tyre quite hard. OH drove me in on Thurs night and collected me on Fri morn so I wasnt scared.
4 days off now so going to get our tree and decs sorted tomorrow then OH is off to Marseille for a football match with work (not for pleasure,he hates football), hopefully no more snow.
Hope your 'To Do' list isnt too long and OH hasnt bought any more stuff for you to pack up!KimmyCustard :j0 -
Snow still falling here. we have a good 15 inches now I wouls guess, the bottom 6 being compacted ICE. I have to do bank CHAPS thing today and sign more house stuff at solicitors plus do mail redirection as apparently royalmail cannot confirm my identity online so have to go to postoffice with ID.
Took car for MOT yesterday, roads nightmare, got stuck, OH was following in the other car with kids so him and a random young plumber dug it out while i waited at side of road then I turned around and the plumber in van who was older and probably near retirment noticed bump and mae a big song and dance about 'escorting' me back to the freshly dug out car just incase i slipped while OH and the younger plumber dug out OH car with kids in it because that had also got stuck. This was all before we had even left our street, I wish I had been alert enough to get the company name, I would of called today to say thank you.
So I gave myself a fright driving.... I don't 'do' scared and i'm now refusing to drive in our street, main raods are fine but our street is in a dip and its just atrocious. Very un-nerving for all concerned as i'm mrs !!!!!!!! of steel usually.
Oh and my BP is officially 'pre-eclamptic' Splitting headache constantly, vision disturbances, and irregular contractions. I have to report to antenatal tonight at 6pm for monitoring again and only out today because I said not getting this house signed for would stress me out alot more.
We lose interweb on wednesday or thursday i think so I might not get back here. I can access facebook from my phone and i think i have PammyJ on that and a few women from the pregnancy thread. If anyone thinks i might have them then my profile picture is currently button moon but it was the kids and hubby and might be back as that later on this week.
calm and cleansing thoughts, I am away to walk out to a main road to get collected by my dad once i have my overnight bag packed, OH typically has went to work because he isn't going tomorrow he doesn't think which has annoyed me no end because we have to do this house stuff, kids being lazy with words like mummy i'm not walking to meet grandad my feet will get tired.... carry me.... arrrggghhhhhh.
So there we go, i have no idea when i will have internet again other than I can get on at my parents house so I shouldn't disappear forever and FB updates will show i'm alive.
I have an unpset tummy too... stress I think plus evil migraine. I need a massage.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -
Ooohhh, sounds bad all round LP. Hope all goes well for you - a week from now you will be in new home & I'm sure your BP will drop then :TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
