    Well I've done it again, read through an entire thread thinking it was new only to find out at the end some 'person' had just bumped an old one.

    Not many check that before reading a thread. The eyes just go to the posts rather than the date at the top. On one forum I've used, a red bar appears at the top to warn that the thread being read is more than 30 days old and this duration can even be altered in user's personal settings. Great idea.
