Oh dear. Last year's specially made set was very unimpressive and the packaging was awful. The year before it was in a lovely white "leather" case, and looked very special.

I bought the Ted Baker for DD, and that's the only OOTW that I've bought. The ACM offers are pretty uninspiring as well. Come on Mr Boots!!!! If you want us to spend our carefully hoarded money, you've got to offer better than this.

Mmmmm. Just thought. If there's loads left on the shelves and nobody buys much, that'll leave lots and lots for the 75% sale! :j

    xx

You're right SS, there'll be LOADS left over. The OOTWs have been selling really badly AFAICS, and they're bound to have lots more stock left over too.

I am tempted by the P&P but wanted the eye cream instead of the body serum, boo!!!!!

I have about £220 in points burning a hole in my Advantage card lol.

If I buy it, this will be my only OOTW, I can't be bothered with S&G as I have lots left over from last year's hatbox, and the other OOTWs have been crap.

    Roll on the 75% sale!!!!!!!!!

I am looking forward to the PnP ootw, but thats because I use it a lot, so its worth it for me. If there are loads left for the sale, then I can get another for next year - except that it means my toiletries stash increasing again (sigh......). Been really unimpressed this year, just got the S&G box as good pressie price, but a hairdryer?? and Ferns uninteresting box?? Each to their own I guess, though I do not know anyone who got the hairdryer!

Still trying to reduce the toiletries mountain, now a hill........ :j

    Dear Mr B

Your OOTWs have been too expensive and/or boring. The hairdryer was not a good deal as there were others available in store which were cheaper and better. Boo to you! Please give us some decent offers for the next few weeks esp S&G at a lovely, lovely price(please, please please). Love a now not quite so enthusiatic Boots shopper. :(

Like most other posters I will not be buying the P&P set. Think that the OOTW have been very poor this year meaning I have fewer presents bought so far but a healthier bank balance. Bought the Santuary Set for a friend and Ted Baker for DD. Way behind with Christmas shopping but hoping for inspiration soon!
  • Went to my local Points event tonight and the shelves with the OOTW on was stacked high. I arrived at 7 and only 2 were gone from the shelves (not sure if they had been repleneshing of course).
If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:

    Hear, hear! :T

I'm still not sure whether to buy the P&P set or not, hmm.

The Fearne box looks nice for storage but I wouldn't be interested in the contents tbh. If it was £5 I'd buy it, use the box and sell the rest on eBay. :rotfl:

Well, the night cream normally costs £22.50, and the day cream £21.50. The intense serum £20.50 and the body serum £26.50 (hmm, gone up since I last bought it at £25!)
There is often a 3-for-2 offer on, sometimes with a £5 off voucher too. If you were to get the face creams with that offer, you'd pay £39 for the three face items. I have often seen the body serum on half price (though don't know if they've done this since it went up from £25). That would be £13.25 for the body serum.
Hence, you could have bought the items in the set for £53.25 under "normal" offers in the store during the year. Or £48.25 if you used a £5 off voucher on the half-price body lotion too (which was possible one time).

You save between £3.25 and £8.25 by buying the set this Christmas on Offer of the Week!

PS Is it just me that thinks No7 seems to put the prices up much much more than any other skincare brand??
  • I've promised myself NOT to buy anything from Boots or anywhere else unless its an absolute bargain\glitch or a good points top up. I used the money I'd saved for perfume for the Lancome Glitch (£105 spend+£98 points). Then I got the perfume with the points. My most recent purchase £100 spend =£34 points. I've still got around £100 of points left, that I might spend in the sales and put the things away for next xmas. Only bargains allowed.

I think MrB has trouble on his hands, in todays economic climate people WONT splash out on LUXURIES, unless they are getting exceptional value for money. Most of the stuff is overpriced anyway. I think the pricing is based on what they can get for it rather than what its worth.

I've been a MSE member for just under a year and clocked up around £6,000 worth of savings. Thats serious money. My husband used to laugh at me saying I was stocking up for a siege. He's started to notice that my weekly shopping bills are about 1/4 of what they used to be, its astonishing what you fork out paying full price for everything.

100% agree with all of this.

I am terrified of losing my Advantage card now!!! It's like having £220 in your purse! I might spend some points in the New Year sale to use some of them up.

P&P is on 3for2 often, sadly next time I won't be able to use the £5 voucher as I will be paying with points!

    Still pondering the set...

£45 is a lot of money for 1 present, i only spend that sort of money on the kids and both are too young for a P & P set.....

Still got a couple of friends to buy for, so looks like looking round as I think the S & G set might be too 'expensive' for a friends present.....

hmmmmm - wonder if those tweezers are still available at Debenhams.....
Challenges - repay all credit cards by end of 2015
