OMG i dont believe this!! At the weekend i received this message when logged into MSE. Didint think anything off it went for a nap and when i got up later my whole operating system was gone apparently Windows Explorer had been wiped from my laptop!!! Couldnt work out how this had happened and now i know why!!!!! I am really really angry!!! Thankfully my brother repaired it and installed new software however its made me very wary of using this site!
I am a little confused TBH, are you saying that your PC was ruined just by logging onto this site or are you saying that you downloaded the file listed in the email and run the EXE file?
Unless you actually ran the exe file with the trojan I don't see how your windoze problem was caused by MSE TBH?0 -

I have been on site for two half years and have never had or heard of any problems before. I hope this info provides some reassurance for you.

I received the spam email in my Inbox this morning. Didn't open it, deleted it and deleted it from my Recently Deleted emails.

I am sure this has been covered at some point but I didn't think I had received this email, so didn't pay a massive amount of attention to the thread. However, I did receive it but not to the email address I expected.
I changed my email address for this site about 6 months ago, I received the message to my old details and not the updated email address on my account. So that would back up the old breach theory.Thank you to everyone who takes the time and effort to post competitions!

As you are such a new user you need to report the email as per Martin's post above.
Please read the first post here...

In fact its very strange that you should get the email when you joined two days after the email was being received so MSE Webmaster will need to check the email you received.0
