You will be OK, don't worry.
You would have had to have run an exe file within a link to become infected, if you never opened the email nothing could have happened.gazza975526570 wrote: »Jeez - whats the big deal.
I get tons and tons of things like this almost daily.
Use different passwords. Dont click on links if you are unsure. Have AV and run regular scans.
Move away, nothing else to see here.

Forward the email to webmaster@moneysavingexpert.com, since you'll be the first person to receive one that joined after 2009.0 -
So has everyone got to change their passwords for the forum on here? If so, how do i do that when i am always logged in?
Thanks

I don't think there's much need to change your password because the leak probably happened over a year ago but it's only come to light for so many now because of the email which contains MSE usernames. If the hacker did have passwords and wanted to misuse accounts they probably would have done so by now. Plus the passwords, unlike email addresses are stored in an encrypted form meaning they probably haven't been leaked.0

Lynda, if you want to change your password just click on the [User CP] tab in the bar at the top then select [Edit email and password] when done click [save changes] at the bottom, when you log in to the forum again enter your new password then tick the box [Remember me] and you are done!0 -
I wish this info had been sent by email, instead of just being put on the forum. I feel really let down. I had the mail containing the virus for two days before running the programme, without receiving any warning. An email during that time would have saved me a lot of anguish, worry and money. I trusted the mail, because I hadn't been warned that hacking had taken place last year, and it included my user name. Now it seems belonging to the moneysaving expert forum has cost me, my computer, and extra expense, on the run up to Christmas too. My Internet Explorer isn't working, instead of the sites I've tried to access I've had !!!!!! sites amongst others. It's really distressing, and worrying. I've run various anti virus programmes, and my computer is apparently free of viruses, but it still doesn't work. (I get a message telling me there's a hidden object, I don't know if that's still affecting things, but I can't find any way to get rid of it). Is my pc now useless, is there anything I can do, or do I go without my pc until I can afford another????? I realize I'm responsible for running the prog, but still think that moneysaver didn't make much of an effort to warn their members. I'm completely gutted. Surely I can't be the only one caught with this, perhaps others can't find an alternative computer to contact the forum?0
