*** VENT: media and Royalty ***

Don't know what ITN or Sky News is doing where the non-event of 2011 is concerned, but I've just turned off the TV due to the BBC's insistence that "the news story of the day" is that some carrot haired member of the Royal Family is to marry some woman called Middleton.

I don't know either of 'em, nor does 99% of the rest of the UK population but somehow, to judge by the media reaction, we're all supposed to fall down like dutifully salutin' peasants at the news of The Squire's betrothal. Why??

It's the 21st Century now, not the bloody 15th.

Yes, there are some sad people out there with lives so miserably limited in imagination and aspiration that they can only live a third-hand existence courtesy of rubbish like Hello! magazine and its imitators.

The rest of us though -- who don't think TV soap operas are documentaries or reality shows, reality -- deserve better from the knee-jerk jerks at the BBC who want us all to go 'aaaaah' at the prospect of some taxpayer-funded bloke getting married in a weddding about to be expensively taxpayer-funded chronicled by the BBC.

Good luck to whoever-he-is inn a redundant monarchy and whoever-she-is about to marry into it, but for Gawd's sake spare us all from the forelock touching inanity of it all.

Ends today's vent. Not that it'll make any difference.

I wish I could hibernate for the next year. On the positive side I'll save money on newspapers since I don't imagine I'll be buying any more as that's the only news they will be carrying.

I don't suppose there's any chance they might just naff off to Las Vegas and have a quickie ceremony at the Little White Wedding Chapel. We can only live in hope:rotfl:

Edited - actually maybe I feel slightly sorry for Katie - her penny pinching fiance has recycled his mothers engagement ring. It was naff when she got it and it's still naff - and of course it's not exactly a good omen is it?!

They sent more to Williams RAF base. Or was that the BBC, I can't quite remember.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

Brilliant idea. Paris for the honeymoon probably isn't an option so if Circus Circus is still in business in as Vegas, they could go there and take the supplicant horde of media clowns with 'em.

There's a part of me which suspect good old Prince Philip would rather enjoy a trip to Vegas for his grandson's nuptials :D

That's the reason, but doesn't actually explain the point.
