North Herts Toyota - stop parking your car outside my house

I can't really see the problem with parking it there, except of course if it is causing obstruction to the pavement. Why anyone would advocate damaging this car on the basis of a second hand report about the manager's attitude (which to be fair, I can kind of understand if he's tying to sell cars and people are ringing him up asking about an ad) is a mystery. At first I assumed that there was limited parking, but the OP states that this is not the case, so I am at a loss to understand how it is impacting on any of the residents.0

If you were a car dealer trying to sell cars, do you think the best way to do this is dump one in a culdesac 30 miles from the garage where on a really good day maybe 20-30 people might see it, but in the meantime it's obstructing the pavement here and peeing off the residents (presumably the people he is trying to target to sell a car too!)

Slinky, I'd find this annoying too. An old neighbour (who's since moved) used to park his work van outside my house periodically. I used to get hacked off looking out the window just to see his gigantic sloganed van stuck there all weekend. Blocked my view, plus, for some reason, the fact that it had writing all other it really bothered me.
However, there's not much I could do; he was perfectly entitled to park there and actually a very nice guy. One Christmas when it occurred to me I'd be staring at his van for a week or more (as he was off work) I did politely ask him to move it. He was more than happy to do so. It's a shame that this company hasn't been so accommodating. But hey, you've done your own 'advertising' for them on here now, haven't you!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

So it vanished by 11am, sounds more like a courtesy car! Just because it went away doesn't mean the same person isn't nearby, the salesman could be knocking off your neighbour.0 -
Should they do it again, sellotape a sign on the windows saying......
"This vehicle has broken down, and awaiting recovery"
Will make folk think about the Toyotas reliabilty!**This space is available to rent**0 -
if a car sits outside your home for three days and you know it doesn't belong to anyone, call the non emergency police line and report it as a possible stolen car. They will identify the owners and ask them why they are parking there. I doubt they will be amused to find it is for advertising purposes and they will be told not to do it in the future. they might even get one of those stickers saying the police know about it and will be recovering it.0

No you can't. It is an offence to obstruct a public highway... and that includes the pavement. Even if you are parking fully on the road but inconveniencing passing traffic you are committing an offence.0 -

Jesus, another one. You knew exactly what i meant. I.E they can park there if they so wish as long as they are not contravening any laws.
I could park out side your house daily should i wish to and wasnt breaking any laws. Its really nothing to be getting in a twist about. People have cars. They like to park them somewhere and they can park them whereever they like as long as its legal.
Is that enough of an explanation for you?one of the famous 50 -

I agree that it may not be an effective advertising tactic, but that's not the point. I'm just surprised that people are advocating damaging a car on the basis of the OP - the reaction seems a little disproportionate to me is all.0 -

Don't know where you got 11am from. It disappeared about 6.30pm. Must be a bad month for sales if they are knocking off my neighbours. Most of them are retired.
