Find a residential street park up and walk the remaining distance = keep fit, arrive at work fully awake and save £££.

This exactly what I do and it saves me over £80 a month, I just have a 12 minute walk to walk.
And I'm sure those residents just love you dumping your car there for the whole day. Really considerate of you, not!

If you register and log the journey, if someone else wants to travel at the same time you may get linked up. Costs nothing but may half costs if you find a match.

Drive to a station just outside Leeds centre with free parking and use it as park and ride.

A return rail fare will be cheaper than parking. You are travelling outside peak periods so can benefit from cheaper tickets.
  • Daveyjp-thanks! Will look into that! Are you from Yorkshire? Any ideas as to easiest station to access from Huddersfield with free parking?

You may have to do a bit of driving round this weekend to look at stations on the south/west side - Morley, Cottingley, Bramley, New Pudsey are four that spring to mind.
  • Cheers-will have a look this w/end-again thanks for your help!

In all seriousness, how far do you live from the train station in Hudd? It might honestly be your easiiest option.

Train from Hudds to Leeds is soul destroying, I know I did it for 12 years.
The platform is usually packed with people wanting to get to Leeds, on average a train with 3 carriages pulled up, already half full, so you would do your best impression of a sardine every day.

Plus you have the joys of regular delays especially in summer when the kids get bored in Deighton and decide to play on the line or a teacher decides to end it all, and having to play musical platforms at Leeds, its the most fun when they dont announce the platform change. ;) plus it isnt cheap.

Forget about the bus, that will take an age but you do get a guided tour of just about every council estate between hudds and leeds.

Might be worth a drive around the residential area round the back of the Merrion Centre. Where you at in Linfit top o valley or bottom?
