Good evening,

Me, my mother and 4 year old sister have been living in an 'unplseant' part of out town for nearly 8 years (obviously my little sister only 4).

We have always been plagued by ASB with multipul counts of vandalism to our cars (they wrote off my mothers by taking the handbreak of and letting it roll down the hill).

Things however have taken a more extreem turn.

My mothers car was petrol bomed three weeks ago (total write off) and they attempted to do my neighbours the following week (fortunatly failed).

I have since found out both my family and neighbours family have been labelled 'grasses' and are becoming the victims of harassment due to this.

I have contacted the police, ASB unit, 3 councillors, the head of council housing and various other people and although they are putting efforts in place to tackle the ASB this doesn't really help us.

We dare not park our cars outside, instead havning to take taxi's to ad from my grandma's house in order to get to work and back. My little sister is now sleeping in my mothers room (incase a brick comes through the window) and out letter box taped up as the local yobs have a nasty habbit of putting fireworks through them.

I can tell you now. This is no way to live.

In legal terms, can we force the council to move us, as we are truely no longer safe in our home and in fact becoming a prisinor in it.

Any advice welcome.
I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!

If it has got to the stage where you feel your life is being threatened why are you waiting around for the council to rehouse you. Why dont you either go and stay at grannies or look for somewhere to rent privately.

Ultimately its your responsibility to keep yourselves safe.

If one of you is murdered then 2 days down the line you will be bemoaning the fact that you didnt do just that and kicking yourself whilst grieveing

As well as blaming the council.

    !!!!!!, get outa there.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

WOW I'm so sorry to hear of what is happening :(

You can ask the police to do you a letter to the council requesting that you be moved to ensure your familys' safety. They may also consider installing a panic alarm system that is tied in to the local police station.

Good luck. Sometimes ashamed of our broken Britain at times :(

I'm sorry, I don't have any advice for you but I wanted to wish you the best of luck. Your situation sounds truely horrific.
  • Grannie cannot squeeze us into her house and we cannot afford the rent on a private house.

I don't think were going to be murdered, i think they are going to take my car out, and my mothers if they realise that she has a new one etc

We are keeping safe. Doors, windows locked and letter box sealed. Sister in my mums room. Job done.

Problem is, it's not a solution. We shouldn't have to baracade our home.

If the council and police are not correcting the problem, i feel we should be moved. we can't rent, we can't buy and we can't continue to lock our selves away.

The police haven't offered any help at all. We only got a PCSO when the car got done. They have in no way offered any protection.

I disagree sorry, but fireworks through letterbox could kill.

Be careful you don't get used to living the way you are (barricading yourselves in). It's no way to live.

*Edit* have you kept logs of all incidents ? could you maybe get some CCTV ?

So a brick through the window followed by a petrol bomb is not a possibility then.

I don't know what they are capable of. So far they have only targetted our vehicles. But i do know others in the area have had fireworks through the door and windows smashed (in general, not specifically relating to this spree).

I doubt this will happen. But what can we do, run away and squeeze into my grandma's house becuase there's a small possibility this may happen. Leave our home and posessions without the chance of a new home (they would simply saw we were over reacting). And maybe we would be?

    Hi

Please make sure you have smoke detectors in all the room downstairs and in the hall.

Work out how you might leave the house if downstairs was on fire.

There are exit ladders that hang over the window and allow you to climb out; I have one in on the second floor but it might be useful any way.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
