Next Door Complains About Bass .. Need Advice

That post above was posted on 02-10-2009.
At the time I was a student and was under a lot of study stress. When I say loud music all day it was from 8am till 12pm and it was just to !!!! me off. Nothing more than that.
As I have stated I DO NOT play music loud. The walls in this house are thin so it's very difficult to do my job without disturbing neighbors.
We all know when it was posted.
Your neighbour or neighbours may also be under work and/or study stress at the moment. Evidently you must be playing it loud, if they can hear it.0 -
hope your tenancy agreement allows you to carry on with a business at that address...do what most people do...buy a house with a garage and/or basement and convert...or invest in really good headphones...I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -
people should have peace and quiet just like you wanted back in those days....respect that
Im asking for the legal side of things. I know that by law there is a certain volume you can listen to your music at a certain time of day.
Until I find somewhere else to live, or a studio unit to put all my equipment I have to earn money.
It's not my fault this block was constructed with paper walls. Maybe they don't follow government guidelines on soundproofing walls (if there is any).
I'm trying my hardest to do things to meet a happy medium and keep everyone happy. I'm not going to stop working and be forced into hardship just because the neighbors are moaning over the smallest bit of noise. I have a 2 year old to look after. If I was to stop on their account I'd have no income and then I'd be a bad farther for not meeting the needs of my child.
Its strange, because my 2 year old room is next door to ours and you cannot hear no music in that room.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Have you considered asking the neighbour if you can go round to their flat and see how it sounds from their perspective? It may not be the smallest bit of noise to them, whatever it sounds like from your end.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I thought modern flats were really well sound-proofed and there were government regulations to ensure this?
So did I but the caretakers have even confirmed that they get regular complaints from tenants in the apartment complexes they monitor. So it's not just me.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Sounds like you should move your production gear into that room, and the 2-year old into the room where the gear is now, then......0 -

Yes I suggested this to the caretakers and they said they will see what they can do.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I have lived next door to someone who started with Kylie at 6am and moved on to irish folk by 7pm and I would have happly stoved my own head in to make it stop. This was almost every day and it just got so bad I would find reasons to be out of the house, I could nurse a pint longer then anyone I know just to not go back.
I am now very sensitive with my neighbours (moved so new neighbours) and hate hearing their rubbish..oh sorry I mean music even when it is low and only on for a short time.
You might need to make music but your neighbour or whoever clearly does not want to listen to it and why should they ? They pay rent, council tax etc and should then be able to enjoy their home.
Noisy neighbours really can damage your health and I know some people will think that is a joke but when you work and get no sleep it really does start to get all to much.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

We (my new neighbour and I ) tried an experiment one day and they turned their music on and came round and they could hear it , then I had ours on so loud it could be heared up the garden but in their house it was nothing more then background noise..it was their speakers and where they were placed, things are much better now they are movedThere is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

I have moved the speakers away from the wall and positioned the whole set up the opposite way and she can still hear it.
I think it's the bass she is talking about. I will write her a letter and ask her to inform me of the times, and what she can hear and see if I can resolve this.
I don't want to be a bad neighbor but I don't want to lose my income either. I know there is a way we can both win it's just finding it.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
