Driving tips for driving test

I should explain myself here, especially because of the way I answered the OP re number of lessons.
Self taught on bikes, test past 1st time over 40 years ago, and yes there was a test then:T
Car test passed a couple of years later after 9 lessons, main critisism from instructor?, "stop leaning over going around corners":rotfl::rotfl:
Taught my brother to drive about 20 years back, he was trully hopeless and couldn't accept the genuine comments of the instructor, they just did not gell. he failed 2 tests. I gave hime 2 weeks of 2 hr per evening and he sailed through even driving an Austin princess.
2 daughters now in their late 20's less than a dozen lessons each plus a couple of weeks with me.
Both passed with no issues 1st time.
What am I saying???
I consider myself a fairly good teacher, who can supply basic road sense, the pupils do the rest.
To anyone that says don't learn with a parent/ sibling etc I would say garbage, all experience will help, if it's good it can make all the difference, if not no different to a craqp driving instructor;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

I failed in my first tests back in Aug this year, I had 25 hours of lessons until that time but hit the kerb in reverse parking plus 4 minor mistake. booked another test for end of Oct and didn't take more lesson until 7 days left for my test day, took another 10 hours lesson so all together 35 hours of lesson. i passed in second attempt with zero minor mistake, examiner told me that i'm the 3rd person who passed without any minor mistake during his 10 years time as examiner. He told me i'm very good like experienced driver.
since then i have drive on motorway and on big roundabouts and have very good control on my car.0 -

Hi everyone and thanks for the comments. I had written a long message and it all went because I pressed the back button by mistake - doh!
In essence, my lesson today was good, a little more of the independent driving and also general driving. reversing etc.
I indicated too early on a roundabout and was a little too heavy handed with the gears but those were the only 2 instances, so feel pretty happy with it overall. I mentioned to my instructor that it's getting me down a bit but am going to give it all I have in the new few lessons as I am closer than I have ever been to finally getting my licence now.
Anyway, roll on the next one!MFW #185

Take the best and worst bits from the replies on the forum.
Concentrate but not obbcessively on the driving and it will happen, my opinion has softened a little as a result of your posts, I think I assumed everyone was a budding schumacher , God forbid;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Hi Cyclone, that made me laugh - I'm a budding learner but nothing more!
Just really need to pass it as it feels like a big cloud over me dominating my life right now, I have so much more to to and it really is vital that in this next week I focus and learn from my final lessons so that on my test it's a breeze.MFW #185

Just try to relax, thats what my instructor told me to do, its his job to point out the errors, but my instructor said "what did you do wrong there" after i made a mistake, most of the time i knew the error i was making so he didnt need to say anything but when i didn't know what error i was making he pointed it out and went over it again.
My instructor was really good, he was patient and friendly, was really cheap lesson prices too £17 per hour :-), and he's giving me FREE pass plus once ive done a motorway lesson. Visit smedriving.com for his details.0 -

Spam indeed, but I even managed to misread that. I read that he was getting a FREE bus pass after he'd done a motorway lesson, :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Actually after my earlier suprise at the number of lessons needed I spoke to a family friend who runs a one car driving school. She said most of her pupils, and most are obviously female, are ready to take the test after about 25 lessons, maybe the extra is due to waiting time or even some ploy by the instructors to either get a few more lessons sold or improve their pass/fail ratio??? (Didn't ask her that of course ;))I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Thanks all for the comments - last lesson was today, have a warm up prior to test but only in as much as we have to drive there sort of thing.
Worried about the snow, as if it gets canceled I will have to join the queue again and that will be another 10 weeks or so...
Even did hypnotherapy on the weekend, not because of nerves but so I definately focus all the way, here's hoping for no snow tomorrow morning as I can't wait to get it over with!MFW #185
