I have had my complaint 'escalated' and received a rather lengthy reply from their 'director of operations' asking me to view the terms and conditions.
    Specifically points 10, 15, 16, 24, 27, 32, 33
    http://www.simplycashback.co.uk/terms-and-conditions.php

Now having looked at these, I'm still in the dark as to how this relates to the change in terms of inquiry from 3 to 6 months.
I did say I would speak to trading standards if the money was not forthcoming but it seems from other posts the financial ombudsman would be a better bet.

10 - A lot of people have applied for this deal just to get the cashback (breach of terms) ;)
15 - Merchants refused to pay (temporary, changed from 3 to 6 months)
16 - Errors in tracking or reporting - taking longer than they or we expected to track
24 - they are not responsible for any difficulties with a partner (ie partner changed the terms of the deal)
27 - They can modify terms when they want (not saying they can, summarising this term!)
32 - Financial products - don't apply just based on the cashback, do your research
33 - Website provided as is, no warranty that the information is accurate

So there you go - it appears that Sainsburys/L&G saw a massive influx of people for this cashback offer and threads like this highlighted that people could go in, get the deal and cancel. Sainsburys closed the deal on the cashback site and changed the T&Cs to protect themselves against people simply canceling after 3 payments (£15) and increased to 6 months (minimum £30).

Not playing fair really changing the offer after you have signed up, but then if you have taken up the insurance that you needed and keep your policy in force, this cashback will be an added bonus (and if that wasn't your intention, then your ruse has been spotted).

    Keep up the pressure.

It was a legitimate offer which you accepted, now they must fulfil their side of the bargain.

Sainsbury's & Legal & General will certainly meet their obligations if you insist.

    Topcrap - not sure

Sorry, I probably didn't make myself clear, I understand what each clause states, and have fulfilled it, but this issue I have is the from the quote above. I signed a contract and was told it would be validated after 90 days but, as stated, the goalposts have changed to six months. So is there a legal recourse in this and is it worth my time and effort?

Yeah keep going, i have just written regarding payment and myy intentions. I will give till friday and then be on to ombusman
    SIMPLES!
  • I ordered the policy in mid-Nov but it didn't track in my account. Sent an email to them a few days ago, who said they would accept the details just the once. I gave them my policy details and they have advised that the details will be passed on to Sainsbury's on April 30 as the validation period has increased to 6 months at the request of the merchant.

So if anybody else has not tracked, still worth sending them an email and your claim can still be passed on in April for the cashback.

I just called legal and general using the number on page 8, and spoke to a very nice man, who is sending out my sainsburys vouchers by recorded delivery within the next 2 weeks. I must say i am rather impressed with sainsburys customer service xx

Decided to cut my losses on this and have cancelled the direct debit before the 4th debit is made.

Have had various discussions with Sainsburys who have said the vouchers and Nectar points would be issued 30 days after the 3rd direct debit so should be any time soon but have given up on Simplycashback as they don't seem to have a clue. Don't want to take a chance on paying another 3 months to get the £35 cashback. Won't bother using them again.

Thanks to the OP and a shame it has not turned out quite as good as we would have hoped but still a good deal.
  • Hi Everyone,

I finally received my £50 vouchers today, I'd actually given up hope getting anything.

I've also had a few email from simplycashback asking for policy details so they can chase the £35 cashback, so hopefully I'll get that aswell!
