  • If your outgoings are more than your income have you sat down and looked through your finances with a fine toothed comb? Do you have a strict budget to try and prevent this?

Perhaps posting a SOA might help, as others can look at where you can pull money back.
Overdrafts transferred to MBNA £953.40/£4279.80 Car insurance (on CC) £461.98/£751.98  Bank of mum and dad £1500/£5000

  • Hi Princess,
I have already posted the SOA and have been given ideas which I have to look into when hoildays are over. I just seem to struggle until next payday. I find it tiring doing this day in day out, not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
I guess these debts have got to me, not being able to treat my self or others to a Xmas present or even go to the sales if I wanted to.
I will be seriously looking in 2011 at other options why I have joined this site.

I'm in the Barclays Reserve trap and am determined to not get further into it. I've got £88 of fees to pay on 2nd Dec, bad timing or what ?! I've succeeded before and I will succeed again.

Barclays won't up my overdraft so that option is out. Credit rating going downhill so not worth applying for credit cards or owt.

The question - I can't fathom out if it would be worth me now opting out of the Reserve. I can't see how much the charges would be if I went over my organised overdraft.

    Overdraft £500, Reserve £500.

(reposting here to get advice instead of down in budget + bank section)

Right as far as I can tell you pay £22 pounds for every five days of using the reserve. They don't charge you interest on the reserve amount but do on the agreed overdraft. If you lose five hundred pounds of "credit"(the reserve) can you manage? and what is the interest rate on the OD? (seems to vary between 14 to 19%)

Basically I think if you go over your OD they don't honour your transaction, and charge you £8 for the pleasure.

You have scroll down on the link to get the full info. Its all a bit wordy for me!

    thanks both :)

I've checked the bank this evening and it's already showing a payment that has gone out of the bank dated 29-12-10 ... time travel anyone ?

I'm not sure what's in the process of going out so will be checking it daily and then nip to bank on wednesday to put cash in. It's in the process of going over the limit with whatever is going out so fingers crossed cash in on wed will stop that. I dunno.

I am also with Barclays and had the time travel thing! I also find with DDs and SOs if they are going out over a weekend I assume Friday.

Can you go to the bank tomorrow just to be sure?

Buffy - Reserve situation more in control than when I asked about it previously. I'm not going to worry about this week as everyone has a blip round xmas and new year so we'll soak it up this time.
  • Great idea. I need to be more organised I think!!

We are also trapped in the Barclays Reserve Roundabout and it is our aim to clear these off, then tackle the overdrafts...along with out other debts!!

We WILL be debt free one day!!

Big Congrats to me .... Lol

Just started on filing for this year as been putting it in a pile. In front of this years folder was a "Plans" page. Only one thing listed "me to go PAYG on tesco or o2" and I did it :)

Lol, small steps :) Now to figure out what to put for next years aim
