Smokin Aces was a bit dissapointing, I can't decide if I like it or not!

They had clearly over done it with the tickets as all seats were full and there were about 20 people standing along the back and down the sides at the top...
  • Any spare tickets for upcoming screenings in either Newcastle or Gateshead please could you PM me, id love a night out but ive got no money.

I was just about to post about that - I didn't think it was that good either. Much preferred Night at the Museum which I went to with my DS - maybe it's just my age! LOL
MSE GBBO 2015 - Go Alvin!
  • Went to this screening tonight - wow what a movie, really powerful stuff......highly recommended.

What did other people think ?
you know when you're getting older - the wife says, "let's go upstairs and make love" and you reply, "I can't do both" !!
  • Saw the Last King of Scotland in Covent Garden, great film and acting from James McAvoy (?) and especially Forest Whitaker who didn't just play Idi Amin as a brutal dictator but showed how he had a charismatic and human side to him. Two things were very strange about this screening however.
Firstly, the cinema was actually full, I didn't think people would turn up being as there no 'mainstream' characters or that people would have 'Africa fatigue' with the references to corruption and mass murders.
Secondly, more alarming the guards didn't ask for our phones but were asking for ID. I'm abit worried because there have been some times that I have not been able to use a ticket and have given them away to other people. I don't know whether they were refusing people without ID but it would be ashame if they did, it's hard enough getting people to turn up as it is and it would be nice to give it to someone who really wants to the see the film.
  • after reading this last night i decided to be very cheeky and ask seefilmsfirst about how i can become an ambassador and they replied today with an application form for me to fill in...its work a go if anyone is interested...

    It's quite simple.
The Hot Fuzz (particularly) code was an ambassador code, e-mailed to film first ambassadors.

These people (like my sister) get their own tickets then e-mail their friends, and eventually it gets posted on places like here.
The cinema tickets thread has inexcess of 27,000 views.

If each cinema has (for example) only 100 pair of tickets for each screening, then you can see how they are full very very quickly.

Other bigger films (such as last king of scotland), have free tickets available through several different portals (internet codes, magazines like heat etc) and have vastly more showing and seats available.

There is nothing sinister going on.

Just a quick WARNING to those who are swapping tickets or giving away ones you can't use on this forum. At the past THREE screenings i've been to at different cinemas in London, they have been checking ID to ensure the person who wants to see the film has the same name as is on the voucher. I have seen people be turned away! Just passing this on so you don't get caught out, it's a shame, but I think they want people to tell SeeFilmFirst or Momentum if they can't go, and they will redistribute the tickets themselves.

23 January, 6.30pm screenings of BOBBY

At 12.15am on 5 June 1968, as Robert F. Kennedy was making his way from the ballroom of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles to give a press conference after winning the California Primary, he was shot and fatally wounded. Bobby focuses on the ordinary people who unwittingly found themselves at the centre of one of the most important events in America’s recent past. Against the backdrop of the cultural issues gripping the country at the time, including racism, sexual inequality and class divisions, hotel staff prepare for the big night, campaign workers gee up the voters and supporters and guests congregate in anticipation of the celebration.
