My friend REALLY wants to see King of Scotland and its her birthday next week. We are in London but it says the Covent Garden screening is full. If anyone has tickets but can't make I will happily relieve you of them.
I have never managed to get any tickets for any London screening-will persevere tho-my luck will come in one day !!

Angel - I miss your posts which grouped together all the available movies with their codes for seefilmfirst and the other ways of getting tickets (mags etc).

Those posts made it easy. There was lot of talk of having the first post as the one where all the available movie codes / methods are listed - quite similar to the magazine offer thread. But this hasn't worked out.

My suggestion is that the board moderator should delete all the other posts in the free cinema tickets thread and let Angel (and/or Quoia or someone else) to have the first post with a summary of all the available movies.

    All in favour say Aye

  • It's quite simple.
The Hot Fuzz (particularly) code was an ambassador code, e-mailed to film first ambassadors.

These people (like my sister) get their own tickets then e-mail their friends, and eventually it gets posted on places like here.

Haha - so basically that means that I didn't get to become a seefilmfirst ambassador - I'm off to sulk ;):rotfl: (They didn't bother to tell me I wasn't one of the chosen few:p )

Oooh...so these extra long codes must be special ambassador codes! It all makes sense now. Wow I'm clever!;)

If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?
  • lol I remember that idea Riyazi...it disappeared into thin air ;) Anyway, lets see how things go for the next couple of weeks (I have exams - yuck - I know, I know: I should be studying not checking up on freebie tickets!!!! :rotfl: ). If there's no obvious improvement, we're gonna have to sort out making that idea work.

Mind you, the thread as it is works well if people actually look through it from the beginning (c'mon its not that long is it? - remember how long it used to be?? ;)) before deciding to post. That way there aren't any repeats. I quite agree that when you find a code/link/offer for a free ticket, quite often one can get caught up in the excitement of sharing their info and thus post without thinking (like me ;), call me scatterbrained) or skimming the thread to check if it's already been posted.

However, I would also like to say that quite frankly, its all in the spirit of moneysaving - we are all MSEs (or trying to be ;)) and our freebie ticket thread is all a bit of fun and none of us should get our knickers in a twist because something is posted twice. I for one am grateful to those that take the time to post/share their findings with us and thus help me to catch a movie for free/almost free. ;)

Having said that......I do think that people have to stop posting in that thread to say TIMBUCKTOO IS FULL, etc. If one person wants to try all the venues, and finds that they are all full, go ahead and share this info with everyone. But if 10 people decide to let everyone know that their local venue is full that just fills up the thread unnecessarily. Do it on this thread please, not the sticky-thread.

Plus, as jillsa mentioned before, quite often, with seefilmfirst, if the same code that was initially showing a venue as being full is used closer to the screening date, tickets may again become available. With this in mind, telling everyone that timbucktoo is full is rather silly as they might then not bother to try the code for that venue and thus may actually miss out on scoring tickets. Is it so difficult for each person to try the code for themselves?

I'm sure this will start more debate.....but...all I have to say at this point is............I love Simon Pegg, I want to marry him and I want his babies! Thank you very much. ;)

    Hi Spikey,

I understand that this can be frustrating but please let me explain how we can give away FREE cinema tickets....

SeeFilmFirst is a ticketing system, used by the major film companies and the media to supply tickets for previews.

For each film and each screening a different screen code is given. If tickets are offered through a magazine or newspaper, we have to give the readers a chance to subscribe in the first instance. However, if there are spaces left we will offer places to our database. Some films are very popular and tickets are redeemed very quickly.

Last year we gave away millions of tickets to previews including: Walk the Line, Family Stone, Devil wears Prada, etc. For the coming year we will have another great selection and as soon as we have something to offer, we will email you, but tickets are offered on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis and are often allocated very very quickly due to the amount of members we have, I do hope that you are happy to stay with us but if you would prefer to unsubscribe please let me know.

    Regards,
