Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

I think im the first one to start the daily tred today but if im not and could one of the mods bring the two threds together please.
Well iv just let the cats out and its now raining its not windy and it dose not seem to cold. So not a bad start to the day really:j:j
Busy morning today. We shall be going to pay our repects at the local war meoral (sorry brain really not working yet ) They do a servive an hour earlyer at our local one as the loal leagen and MPs, boys and girls brigade, and everyone one else that marches up the hight street like to get it over with and then all go off to our loacl main one 2 miles away. There has been talk of for years to stop doing pur llcal one. But The feeling is that while there is a good turn out of the locals then they will keep doing it. And i have to say there is always a good turn out of the youg and old. There is nowadays a big muslim coummity local and whlie that dont tend to come there is one muslim man the last few years that has started to march with them he is not old enough to have been in the 2nd world so all i can think is that he must have been in the british army over in his mother county. He has seen service as he has 4-5 medels. The local inman all so comes to pay the respects of the moscs he always brings flowers to lay.
The twins will be going with us too and when we have fiinished thre they shall be going to sunday school my wife will stop with them at church and ill come home. And ill have the service on the telly.
Job a few jobs to do in the garden too.
Roast chicken today:T:T just not sure wether to have it a lunch time or dinner today.
Well im sorry for the long post i got carryed away:D
enjoy your day everyone:j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -

Morning Halight & all who cross & follow.
No idea what the weather is like here today, it's too dark to see. We're off to see MIL later today to take her birthday present over & to have lunch, we have to go via BIL's to sort out his electrics & to give him a lift to MIL's as he is still serving his drink driving ban. When we get to MIL's, hubby has to have a quiet word with MIL's husband, he has just got a computer with internet access & he needs warning about Russian brides & financial scams etc.
I did finally clean the kitchen & do the washing so today I only need to vacuum through & that will keep the dust down until next week. I also knitted 2 scarves & will take another one to knit at BIL's.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester
I've just read the last part of yesterdays thread, (sniffs) I can't think what you lot are intimidating about me, (flounces off in the style of Mrs Slocombe)

Morning folks, dont know what the weathers like yet, havent ventured to open the curtains. Doesnt feel too cold, as the heating isnt on yet, so presume it is milder and rain! Nothing much planned for today as have DGS but really need to get some jam and marmalade made as only blackcurrant in the cupboard (albeit 14 jars!) but would rather have rasp, plus it will free up freezer space. Will do some more knitting today too (well done Hester on your scarves yesterday) but depends how mischevious DGS is! thinks my ball of wool is a football! Maybe have to make a knitting pinny like we had at school many moons ago. Tea will be pork chops, cabbage, carrots and roast potatoes. No doubt will have to squeeze a wee bit ironing in too somewhere along the line.
Hope you all have a good day and will catch up later, hugs to all in need,

Morning all - am feeling a little dislocated in Birmingham. Arrived last night in the dark, found my Premier Inn (stuffed full of people) and now going to my conference, in the dark. Not driving home until 5.30, in the dark! Thank goodness for sat nav.
So, lots of OS then today - paid for hotel and lunch.
Hope everyone's feeling good/better/on the mend or having some comfort and support.0 -
Sunday 9th? heheeheee
suzybloo, my parents always have tonnes oh hm blackberry/blackberry+blackcurrant/blackberry+apple jam from the bushes that take over the garden, but those are the only flavours of jam i don't like
I woke up for a wee but decided to just stay up and check on my yogurt, despite this being my only chance for a lie in... My 2nd attempt at soy yogurt looks good
I managed to keep it at 40-45C for ~3 hours in the evening, then it slowly cooled during the night and this morning there's thick yogurt at the top and a little watery yellow layer at the bottom! Have got it in the fridge with that bottom layer draining off. This was only a tiny batch done in a small nutella pot, so I shall do a big 1 pint batch during today then I'll be on the road to hm soy yogurt heaven for life
Got lots of other bits to do today, mostly work, probably need to spend 6+ hours on one assignment and as much as I can stomach on another(3-4 hours?). It's getting frustrating as I can only form quite basic mathematical proofs, if only there was a maths prof on OS to save me

Good Morning all, filthy day here in north Kent.I watched the service last night on t.v. as I do every year.my dear nephew was on with his boss the Bishop of Manchester.Did anyone think that little girl who sang had an absolutely fantastic voice .It brought tears to ones eyes.Such a beautiful voice and song from such a small girl. She will go far I think that one.
My DGS Danny's 20th birthday today bless him where have all the years flown to I wonder.
I was just about to cook something light for dinner last night and youngest DD phoned up and said come over Mum we are having a take away treat as it was her first payday at her new job so I toddled round and had a lovely chicken curry.Bless her she is a dear soul and loves to share in her good luck. She, like myself and my Mum before us, always says if you have a bit of luck pass it on.I got home just after 9.00 in time to watch the Rememberance Service.
This morning I am in 'housework mode' and my eldest DD will pop around for coffee about 11 which will be nice. Then this afternoon I shall be off to DDs for board games with the little boys and dinner this evening.I am so lucky to have my two DDs living close by and they are very kind to their old Mum.
Well time I got a wriggle on I hope everyone has a good day and tries to keep warm and dry
Cheers Chums

Morning all
Dry but very overcast. DS1 has Remembrance Parade with Cadets this morning and DS2 has Rugby, so need to be in 2 separate places at the same time, hey ho, the joys of children - but wouldn't want them to not do these activities.
We're having roast pork later, will be setting the oven on automatic so it comes on whilst I'm out and DH will do the veg, so just need to cook that when we get back, I love roast on Sundays with chill time after, nice end to the weekend before going back to work tomorrow.
Will be having a consultation meeting this week at work re the shortened working hours, which means I'll be losing some hours each week, but I'm grateful I will still have a job.
Did at last manage to get the prezzies wrapped so only a little more to go. Just need to organise food and drink now but not such a big job.
Will be trying over the next few weeks to get the kitchen cupboards emptied, sorted, cleaned and everything put back, they are getting a bit of a mess and I'm sure there's stuff I could do without etc. DH and I have decided that after this next weekend, we're going away on our own, that we will then crack on with the decorating, so that it get's finished before X**s, (she says in eternal hope!).
Need to crack on now, more coffee needed, brekkie to be sorted and boys to be organised!
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning all. I survived the sleepover - gave them three warnings about the noise then separated them. Well at 6 and under it is still important at their age that they get their sleep. It did mean that they were all asleep by 8.30 which was great. OH spent all of yesterday evening talking on line (World of Warcraft) to a girl who is agrophobic and won't speak to anyone. Whilst I sympathise with anyone who has this condition, doesn't he know this is one of the oldest tricks in the book??
So I went to bed! Youngests birthday party today - so have been up making the birthday feast for 20 max 5 yr olds! Lots of carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, cheese and the like. Dishwasher on, chilli defrosting for tonights tea / lunch. Will find a remembrance parade to go to this morning - OH refuses to go everytime - strange as he's military. Dogs already asleep on the sofa - hey ho.Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0
