Halifax say NO now Yes very confused

Options
I've posted before, that through ''My Offers'' it kept coming up with an advert to apply for on of their top notch cards. So did that and got declined, letter came today.
So tonight rang Halifax customer services and the advisor said, well you have a ''guaranteed credit card on your account''

Bit taken back, she said it was a Clarity card and it was showing a limit of £2000. So to say the least I am confused, she said their credit card dept will ring me Monday evening.

Is this normal with Halifax?

My other dilemma Vanquis, I have a balance thankfully not too much, but if the Halifax offer goes ok, would want to do a balance transfer.

But, do Vanquis accept them? If not could it be done by a cash advance into my Halifax current account, then me just pay Vanquis off? I want to say bye to my sub-prime card, as will be closed.

I've done balance transfers, moving my balance from Vanquis to Barclaycard, Silvercard and Santander Zero without a problem.

Hi Hax, did you recently do a balance transfer from Vanquis to Barclaycard?

Yes Bosie - I only got the Barclaycard in September and did the transfer as soon as it arrived.

Sorry - I should add that it's only a Barclaycard Initial I got with just an £800 limit - but did a LoB transfer at something like 6% - which is much cheaper than 50-odd% of Vanquis! :D

I've found some old posts and some were saying they had to do a manual transfer? I know Vanquis have a Barclay's sort code, well if it goes through can ask:eek:

I just made the transfer via the Balance Transfer option in my online account.

    Good luck! :)

If Vanquis wont let you do a balance transfer and you do get your Clarity card, why don't you withdraw money from cash machine, as with Clarity there is no balance transfer period, and no cash withdrawal fee. (although i think you do pay interest from day one)

Hi Jimmy, that came to my mind but I'm sure the interest with the Clarity card might be about 27%/ if used as a cash advance.

    oh what to do:eek:
