Slowcooker beef curry is yummy. I do it once a month and freeze the excess. I have a policy if the SC is coming out to make a curry it is being filled. Money wise we are screwed too. Maternity leave is literally killing us

I think money is going to be tight for many this year sadly. Yesterday I realised how much extra we have had to spend out this month which is no wonder we're skint.

If and it's a big IF tax credits return to normal at the end of April then May should be a bit easier, although DD2 needs new shoes and summer shoes, we need to pay the holiday balance.

I postponed my hair appt this month until the end of the month nearer payday so I offset that cost and bought more fresh fruit and supplies we needed.

Slow cooker is on and it smells yummy.

    Hope the curry is nice!

Sorry to hear about the tight money situation, is horrible when you don't have much left isn't it. Hopefully your tax credits will sort themselves out!

Onwards. Not sure I have anything relevant to MFW ness to post, but this thread keeps me on the straight and narrow so I'm going to keep posting.

I've given myself a couple of targets
    - £50 on Dooyoo by 20th May (on £9 now so dooable.) One review a day with 40 reads
    - £40 on OP by mid June (on £14 now so hopefully)

I have the 0% card to pay off which has approx £1k on. Money is sitting tucked away but I don't want to touch it so am going to pretend I don't have it and challenge myself to pay it off before July.

Once that is done then I am going to set new targets.

    This morning I have

    - written a 60p dooyoo review

Well done on setting yourself some small targets, they definitely sound achievable. Money is tight for us too and although i get good maternity pay I am hoping for 12 months off so my wages will be dire!
    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!

Thanks CathT. I have no idea why money is so bad for us this month, we've always been ok before. I guess it's been slowly getting worse with all the price hikes etc and this is the month it's hit us, that and the drop in tax credits etc.

Makes me more determined to have savings and OP the mortgage though. I allow myself to get down about it for about half an hour and then I get strong again lol

Sorry to hear you are struggling with the money, just seems to dissapear doesn't it!

You are doing a few things to make some extra though which is good. OP has been a lot better recently. I have done really well last couple of weeks but helps I am not at work!

another 50p on OP this morning. I set it up on my phone last night so I could check when I think about it. It might help me remember and get there quicker.

I've done another 60p dy review this morning and suggested a couple more higher paying items whilst they are in the higher category. One item sold on ebay this morning so when that arrives I'll withdraw about £30 and let that offset the poor current account this month.

If we can get to next month on an even level then I can crack on properly I think.

Dinner is made to take to work tonight and also prepared lunch for work tomorrow.
