working less for the same money is a pay rise
But your not working less.... your just working at a different time to everyone else - you still have the same number of days holiday every year therefore are still receiving the same pay and the same holiday entitlement so how are you workign less?0 -

back in the old days I used to take my holidays the whole of august. We used to go cycling in France every year. At the end of the holidays someone would always say "11 months til next years holiday" . So we had the idea of the next year taking all of july for our holidays in France. So we only had 10 months to wait for the next holiday. So after that we took June . suddenly it was clear there must be an optimum way of taking holidays to get a virtual pay rise for no extra effort. Take it from me. waiting 10 months is better than waiting 11 months0 -
Hilarious thread, thanks so much OP. Haven't laughed so much in ages. I think you might need to take more than a month's holiday though, you're clearly overdoing things at the moment.0

I cannot believe you still don't see it! 30 days hols per year, or 2.5 days per month, it still adds up to the same! No pay rise, virtual or otherwise, and no gain! You take 1 month after 10 months work. I take 1.5 months after 10.5 months, it all adds up to the same holidays and the same pay, no more, no less!0 -

you join a company on jan 1
Lets suppose you only get 1 day per year holiday and you plan to stay with that company for 60 years .
what is the best strategy to take the one day per year???
is it best to take your day on 31/12 every year ???
or is it better to take your day earlier every year???
by about 6 days earlier would be my guess.
What's your guess???0 -

If its all about time between holidays then why not take a long weekend every month then?
Regardless of how you put it, its still not a pay rise. Its the same amount of holiday regardless of when you take it - your not tricking the system in any way. If you were you would be getting more holidays for you pay grade0 -

Not this one again!!! It matters not when you take the holiday, whether it is 1 day or 6 weeks! You still have to work the year to earn the holiday, so if you take it earlier you still have to complete the year before you earn any more holiday. 1 day per year is 1 day per year, you cannot make it any more by taking it early.0
