You know what? The more I read this thread, the convinced I become that mumbles_one is my ex-wife!
She was exactly the same, she'd say something stupid then defend it to the death.0 -

don't worry , I have plenty more but I wanted to test this one before I book some holidays
Have I understood correctly - if I work for the next 120 years will I get 384 days holidays per year?
I might even work through my lunch breaks so I can take a week last Tuesday off.0 -

lets explain again slowly for all those with reading difficulty.
1. Suppose you have a job where you only have 1 day holiday per year
that would mean you work 364 days and get 1 day holiday. Is that clear???
2 . the first year you work 364 days and take 31 december and you realise that it is going to be another 364 days until your next holiday on december 31 . Is that clear???
3. So the second year you take you holiday on 30 december . Is that clear???
so now you have only worked 363 days until your 1 day holiday instead of 364. If you keep moving your holidays a little earlier every year then you work less days between your holidays.
which is better 364 days then 1 day holiday or 363 days then get 1 day holiday???
can I go out now or do I have to explain this more simply???
You work 364 days before a holiday the first year and 363 days before a holiday subsequent years.
Your pals take their holiday in August, lets say the 15th. The first year they work 226 days before a holiday and 364 days before a holiday subsequent years.
So after 4 years you will have worked an average of 363.25 days before a holiday while your pals will have worked an average of 329.50 days before a holiday.
Who is better off?0 -
come 2067 mumbles will be taking off 76 weeks per year, the days he's working he'll be getting 9 hour lunch breaks, he'll be getting a month's salary every 6 minutes, and he'll have the skin of a 21 year old, and he'll be driving a flying car.Hope over Fear. #VoteYes0

see old posts for equal comparison
both employees start work on 1 jan
employee 1 takes same holiday every year 31/12
employee 2 takes same holiday minus 1 day 30/12
so employee 2 only works 363 days between holidays while employee 1 works 364 days between holidays0 -

It's a trick question! You haven't told us where they went on holiday.
I wouldn't worry about it - after 365 years of work it all evens out anyway.0 -

mumbles_one wrote: »Lets suppose you only get 1 day per year holiday and you plan to stay with that company for 60 years . what is the best strategy to take the one day per year??? is it best to take your day on 31/12 every year ??? or is it better to take your day earlier every year??? by about 6 days earlier would be my guess. Whats yours???
this is the strategy read carefully0
