(((Hugs))) Cutterby. This thread moves so so so fast, it is hard to keep up. I don't read all the pages as there really aren't enough hours in the day! It would be nice if you stayed and posted when you could. There's always someone to listen - we even have our own insomnia club if you're awake in the wee hours! It would be great if you stayed, but I totally understand if you don't want to. Wish you all the best with bubs and it would be lovely to hear any updates :)

GFH - I'm sure work would be understanding if you had to take some emergency leave. It must be very hard. Have you got anyone you could leave DDs with, or can you take them with you?

Sorry to hear your growth scan results aren't what you expected Lauren. Is a home birth def out of the question? Sorry I have no expereince to help. ((( hugs)))

    How's Baby Josh :)
  • Thanks Sammy :)

Josh is fine. He's keeping us busy anyway! Everytime anyone comes to visit, he is a picture of blissful virtue! Had OH's parents and brother and wife, and my sister and her hubby over today, and he slept like an angel the whole time.

Of course as soon as they left, he started screaming!

I'm struggling with b.feeding still. I never seem to be able to satisfy him, and have reverted to expressing and giving him the odd bottle of formula at night too which helps him sleep..not ideal I know, but I'm more concerned that he gets a good feed than trying to struggle with BF'ing if it's not working out.

My MW said it's fine to give him the odd bottle feed, especially if my nips are really sore (which they are). As long as I express the flow should keep coming, which is the main thing.

It is hard work..much harder than I ever expected, and the sleep deprivation is really tough. I am dreading OH going back to work in a week, as I'm scared I won't be able to cope.

I do love Josh, but I think I am definitely suffering with the baby blues too.

    I hope you do too.

sammy I go on mat leave in four weeks and will need time off for the funeral...so I can't in all conscience ask...and the DDs need mummy.

MV its hard at first, but keep getting lots of help and you will get through. Hugs.
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x

well baby is head down but unfortunatly it seems I have polyhydramnois. This is the opposite if what the midwife thought as I am only measuring 32 week at 37 weeks. My AFI is only just over the recommended level so my homebirth box is being withheld for now, I have a consultants appointment and a GTT at 38 weeks.
Forgive me for asking but why are they doing a GTT at 38 weeks? The figures for glucose levels in pregnancy are based on much earlier (24-28 weeks IIRC but I'd have to look it up) and throughout pregnancy your blood glucose levels get higher and your insulin gets less effective so if they do a test at such a late date you are much more likely to be outside the "normal" range. I understand that the purpose of diagnosing "gestational diabetes" is to reduce infant macrosomia but if you had a scan for measuring small for dates then presumably they would have checked the size of the baby anyway? The "treatment" for GD would generally be modified diet etc. to control blood sugar levels and/or early induction but at this stage given the polyhydramnios (which is an indication for early induction) I can't see that a diagnosis of GD would actually result in any change of treatment.

I'm not any kind of expert BTW - I was just reading up recently so I can back up my refusal of the GTT this time around.
