Even with a scan, they can be up to a pound out either way, and without a scan, they are frankly guessing. No-one can really tell til baby arrives, and by then, you won't care. Three different midwives last time told me I was having a small baby because my bump was measuring small - he was 9lb4oz at 10 days overdue, with my bump still measuring 36 weeks.
This is why I've declined any measuring or growth scans this time around... DD2 was 9lb8oz at 9 days over due and I was measuring waaaaaaaaaaaay off the charts... But then I had a belly to start with so it's never going to be accurate...

GFH, it was a propsal by labour but it would never have gone through...

EA, hope you have some more joy with the Dr tomorrow... Although TBH I got referred to physio this time and there really isn't a fat lot they can do to help...

DD2 climbed into the moses basket earlier and had a lie down... At least I know it's sturdy and unlikely to tip up... But ironic seeing as she'd never sleep in her own...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

  • I want bigger b00bs!! OH is just as disappointed as I am (possibly more) that my b00bs have remained the same. I am a 42 B and am still a 42B, but I was the same all the way through last time :(

Green eyed monster will leave now :D

I want my old ones back. I always wanted bigger, but now they're here I don't like them as much. The grass is always greener....

PC and Giz - me too on the leakage. euuuwww.

Well I was awake at 4am this morning, and just lay there until about 5.45 when I finally nodded back off, only to be woken at 6 by the alarm. :(

BCS - hope it all went ok at the scan

supermaiden - congrats on making 3 days without MS. I know what it's like. You end up loving the sick-free days. Don't worry too much about not talking etc to the baby. I still don't talk much to mine. I do get moments when I feel a strong bond with sproglet, but I think because I've been so sick for much of the pregnancy it's been quite hard at times.

    Welcome Smlsave :j

lauren - I'd be quite happy with no blood tests to be honest. We can swap MWs next time if you like (and if there is a next time!)

dusty - do you mean an internal ultrasound? (d1ldo cam). If so, it's a bit like having a smear. Just relax and it'll be a little bit uncomfortable and that's about it. Oh and maybe cold if they haven't warmed the gel. Take a spare pair of pants to change into in the loos afterwards.

Pixie - you can claim back for prescriptions you've had to pay for while you wait for the card to come through (well, that's what my form said) so keep all your receipts. Or just tell the pharmacy that it's in the post. Mine was lovely and accepted my word for it.

Last working day tomorrow, and I've booked half of it off. All feels quite weird to be honest. I think it'll sink in once I've left though.

Not much to say for me. I'm a bit blaaahhhh from lack of sleep.

I'm not sure how they check it but d1ldo scan sounds probable. Thanks for tip on pants, although I'm heading straight to work after so have to make sure I don't accidentially pull them out :rotfl:

I wondered if anyone knows how much you are supposed to have saved up for maternity leave. Is it something like 6 months wages?

We've saved nearly two months of my pay, but we're quite lucky in that I will be getting 50% for 20 weeks (although to be honest that's not much more than statutory) and our mortgage is really low at the moment because of the base rate. However our rate expires in October which is exactly when I won't be earning anything at all so we need to start shopping around soonish.

On that note - does anyone know whether banks will take into account that you're on maternity leave and returning to work when they do the sums for a mortgage, or do they just look at what you're earning at the time?

I've tried to find out information about how much tax credits I might expect but it's really difficult as it's all based on the previous year's income and then expected income for this year - I called the helpline but apparently I can't even ask for the forms until baby is born. I have filled out the one for child benefit already however (well, as much as I can) so will have that one ready to send as soon as it's time.

Got my cervix scan in the morning followed by 28wk MW appt. Anyone had a cervix scan already? Painful? Will I get to see bubs again??

Yes, its a plastic type dildo thing that they put a condom on, I found it less uncomfortable than a smear and yes, they did let me have a quick look at the baby again and check the heartbeat.

I have to pay for my prescriptions. Well not now that I'm pregnant but before I did. Are they free for everyone in Northern Ireland?
