Everyone must be different, but I didn't find the epidural/spinal at all painful. The internal examinations before the pessary was inserted were 100 times worse for me. My anesthetist was fantastic.0

Hi Girls,
I'm awake and cant sleep so thought I would just give a quick update, I seem to be having a couple of up days and I feel "normal" today, I'm sure I will plummet back down to low pretty soon. I am away this weekend, at mum and dads fri and then sat I'm leaving ds with my parents whilst I go to a wedding with lots of friends and stay away in a hotel! Arrrrgggh! I felt brave when I said I would go, now a little nervous, but I have plenty of support, so I'm hoping to enjoy myself a bit. Shame I cant drink, I could have got shamelessly drunk and just cried alot, no I'm kidding I wouldn't do that to friend getting married!
Anyway, I see there are some births congrats to all.
I cannot believe how quickly I have shot up the list, its quite scary to think the fidget bum in my tummy could be here in 6weeks time!
Oh well, going to try sleeping now!0 -
Glad you are feeling well twoflower. I hope you enjoy the wedding!
Janinie - it sounds like you are poorly supported at work and are being asked to do an unreasonable amount. You must remember that your health and that of your baby are the most important things and you have to prioritise them over your work. I think sometimes employers will just push people as much as they can and maybe the only thing that will make them get more staff is if you do go off sick. An alternative may be to ask them whether it is possible for you to work reduced hours due to sickness, perhaps with the support of your gp. It sounds like your work is a bit like mine - people aren't replaced when someone retires and everyone else has to work longer hours to take up the slack. Unfortunately this means there is no incentive for the employer to get someone new and everyone is under pressure and I'm sure the long term result will be good people leaving or going off sick.
Congratulations to CL!
I'm well. Still at work at nearly 36 weeks and feeling physically the best I have so far this pregnancy! Had my last antenatal class last night, which was about coping after the birth. Nothing really important, but I have met a nice group of women and we are all meeting on Sunday for tea and that's what I really wanted to get out of the classes.
Good vibes to all!0 -
Morning ladies!
Huge congratulations CL what a beautiful name, I bet all that stress is well worth it now. Well done you x
Wonder how purple is getting on, hope she is having her mummy cuddles too.
2flower hope you managed to get back to sleep ok, it will be relly hard on you but I really hope you enjoy your weekend.
Janine i would echo ejecoms. Yours and your baby's health has to come first and it is really rubbish on the other employee but this is your employers problem and not something you should have to worry about (but if you're like me it will worry you and you will struggle on). If it does get too stressful you will need to look at reducing your hours. Take care x
Spaghetti poor you for throwing up in public! Hope you are feeling a bit better now."That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -
Just chipping in with my C/S experiences.........had 2, 1 planned 1 emergency
First one was daunting as I did not know what to expect and felt awful for what felt like ages afterwards,as I think I thought I would be up and about really quickly........don't skimp on the painkillers thinking you need to get off them or anything........just take them!
This time around, much easier. In fact DS (oooh first time I have typed that) is 10 days old and I am planning a little jaunt into town today, (taking a bus  :rotfl: ) and I have not had any painkillers etc for a couple of days, feeling on the edge of normal again

Perfect, he is obv not as bright as you. You can now leave him off the birth cert with a clear conscience and if you need the maintenance money later you can go to the CSA and insist on a DNA test (if you get desperate, which you won't).Hi everyone. Baby Juliet was born by section at 4.04pm today weighing 8 lb 4.5 oz. Will post pic later.
Congratulations!!! Welcome and God Bless Baby Juliet. Gorgeous name. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Mean to ask ha anyone heard from Sammy? I really hope she is just mega busy and nothing in wrong!"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0

Emsy, nice to see you back on the board, we missed you sweetie!!! Glad you are getting up and about too and sorry to hear about Ex but if he feels that way then I think you have made the best decision possible for you and the wee man!!!
CL, huge congratulations on little Juliet (lovely name!!!! )
Janine, i can only echo what the other girls have said in that you and your little one are the most important thing and that if you need to take time off then do it without worrying about the other girl. It might be the kick your company needs to get it sorted.
I used to worry about letting my department down if I was off but reality is that you get no medals for soldiering on and coming to work. The place also runs without you.
Public sickness, oh, not fun. Hope you are feeling a bit better now Spag!!!
Well, I am 24 weeks today!!! Wow, one of my friends nicely advised me that the baby was now Viable. What a lovely way to put it!!! lol
Well, need to go dig my car out of the snow again to go get some more gaviscon on prescription. How can drinking water give me heartburn??? Grr. At least lovely MW said I could just call up for a repeat prescription when the bottle is done next time. Winner.:jMini Coops arrived 2011:j0 -
Re baby baths - I was given an expensive one with a foam bit in the bottom, just after I bought one from Asda (I think it was £3.50) - the Asda one was far better. The foam came out of the other one, and perished really quickly.
I'm sure the sink is fine, but I did use the bath every day until he outgrew it, and I liked it. I never used any sort of bath support, I preferred to hold him, and he seemed to find that relaxing. I had my forearm under his neck, and held on to his upper arm on the opposite side to me, if that makes sense. It was comfortable and secure, and easy to reduce the level of support gradually as he grew. I'm going to use the Asda one again for this one. It stores neatly under the changing table I have, so it works well for me.0 -
re: baby baths. I used mine once. DS went in the big bath ever since he was born using 1st this support then as he got bigger one similar to this.
I stand by my theory that this is why he is a natural in the swimming pool. He LOVES it and has enjoyed putting his head under since he started going. He now (at 2 years old) asks every time he goes in the bathroom if he can have a bath and tries to take his clothes off.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0
