Good luck CL, Tink and Purplepardilis, labour vibes to you!

Well, I went to the breastfeeding class and I don't know whether it's just because I've learnt a lot from this thread but it was a waste of time really, the only useful thing was the DVD and I think it was the same one I was given at my 20 week appointment. Also, the midwife was a racist moron (telling an asian couple that they must eat loads of currys and that could affect the taste of the milk - they replied that no they didn't...) and also told us that it was fine to drink alcohol while breastfeeding because it would help baby sleep better.

The only useful thing like I said was the DVD because it showed you how to position baby.

Maybe I was unlucky but I don't think I'll be going to any more, not least because I don't then get home till nearly 10pm.

Didn't feel many movements yesterday but he's back kicking away this morning so I'm reassured again!

Lillian im shocked at the MW telling you its ok to drink alcohol to get the baby to sleep! Thats like saying you may as well put whisky in their last bottle if your are FF. An elderly relative actually suggested I do that!!

I remember having half a glass of bucks fizz to celebrate getting home and I felt so guilty. Im sure we'd all love a miracle way to get our babies to sleep but alcohol isnt the answer.

Also the comment to the Asian couple was totally inaprapropriate. I would report her. She might be a good midwife/health visitor but she shouldnt be leading classes.

  • Morning morning.

lilian I went to an NCT class last night too which was meant to finish at 9.30pm, but ran over till 10pm, so by the time we got home it was about 10 to 11. I'm exhausted. The day started at 6.30am and I was achey and crabby yesterday.

Then to make matters worse, when we got home we sat down to have a cup of tea and watch 20 mins of tv before bed, and there was a power cut..just our street but everything went off..fridge, heating, lights etc, so had to go to bed hoping that it would be back on again by the morning and wouldn't wake up to a puddle over the kitchen floor, and a freezing cold flat..not what I needed.

Fortunately it was back on this morning. Poor OH had to get up at 6am to move the kitchen about as we have a new washing machine being delivered today. Of course the old one had to die last weekend..more money to spend,,grumble.

Anyhooo..good luck to the lasies being induced/C-Sectioned today...some baby-news will cheer me up :)

  • Morning All,

Lillian - Dont blame you for not going again, doesnt sound useful at all! We didnt have a breastfeeding one last time but I prob wouldnt have gone anyway, I have no intention of breastfeeding, my nipples are very sensitive normally to the point where the thought of having to feed from them makes me wince in pain! Nooo sorry its not for me.....

CL - Hope youre on youre way by now, either section or natural.

Purple and Tink - Good luck today ladies! Purple sounds like youre on youre way already!

Nic - Good luck with the move!

Rockin - Hope youre feeling better soon, hows my near enough pg bud doing other than that?

All ok over this way, had midwife appointment yesterday, bubs is fine, bp is fine, wee is fine, basically everything is fine! Seems odd seeing as I had so many appointments and scans last time lol. Got my HIP form, all filled in and will send today, that'll come in handy!

Also got my MATB1 form but Im all confused, no managers here to ask! Basically with my MATB1 I have to forward our own EM2 form (Council) and on there its asking whether Im intending to return to work blah blah blah, Im being made redundant so no I wont be returning! Lol, its all very confusing!

Anyhoo suppose I better get some work (read: browse internet) done

Quick question, is or have any of you suffered started to suffer from sickness in 3rd trimester and how did you cope with it? I'm suffering badly from nausea/sickness again like I was in the beginning, this coupled with totally losing my appetite I'm not eating a great deal and what I do eat causes me heartburn (oh the joys of late pregnancy!).

Lilian - that midwife sounded awful!

I did wonder whether I should - if I do I should probably do it anonymously as she'd no doubt turn out to be on the wards when I have the baby!

MV - poor you, that sounds like a stressful night. Glad your power was back on this morning x

I meant to post this as well - I've been feeling sick again in the morning when brushing my teeth. I think it's normal as we don't have enough room to digest our food now. At least that's what Google says!

Just saw consultant and still 1cm after 3 attempts at induction, so having a section this afternoon. I'm 4th in the queue for a section.
