Natwest Closed my Account!

I didn't allow anything! I had no idea what was happening!
Is there really nothing I can do? No bank whatsoever will touch me? How about a Basic account?/
Wow...
Stop speculating and get a copy of your reports and taking it from there a bank could decline an application for many reasons. Natwest might not have even done anything except close your account.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
They will have closed his account because he has paid fraudulent cheques in and by saying "I had no idea" is just as good as telling a teacher "I left my homework on the bus" its a lie and the bank have heard many times before because its what every single fraudster says. Bank fraud departments aren't daft he's blagged some dodgy cheques and Natwest have closed his account as "non genuine item paid in" or "misuse of facility" and put a cifas warning against him to warn all other financial institutions not to go near him. He may well have drawn against the funds if Natwest hadn't spotted it straight away and there may also have been a loss. Weather these other institutions take any notice is up to them as soon as I see them the application goes in the bin instantly and if ever I come across a customer who says "my bank have closed my account for no reason" I know the reason instantly.0

Is it just me or did the op do nothing about the fraud and just left it as a debt and waited until they were 18 years of age before waiting to get a new bank account?
Did you actually report the fraud to the police and the bank? If not not only would you be marked with a fraud warning but you would also owe the bank money and have a poor credit rating as a result!0 -
No it would have been more along the lines of someone he knows asking him to pay a cheque in for lets say £4000 and offering him a % of it for doing so. Its very common and on most cifas cat 6 warnings the fraud will be committed by someone male aged 18 to 20 90% of the time- its that common and that obvious and very often committed by young people who are very new to the UK and easily persuadable that nothing will happen and that it is easy to get away with which is not the case.0

I called Natwest asking what has happened but they couldn't disclose the information directly. I tried to explain my situation but because I had been away and these cheques had just turned up, my account was already messed up before I could do anything. Jim, I know what you are talking about. People around here call it AC Scam. I think I have been a victim of it actually, but this time I swear I had no idea what was going on. I didn't give my card to anyone.
I know how this looks, but that's why I've come to this website, for help, not to be blamed... I'm going to try everything I can to get this removed, and I need someone as smart as you's help.
Also yes, this did happen when I was 17 but I just wanted a new bank account, that's why I waited till I was 18 to apply for a new one. If I knew about what had actually happened and that this would screw up my credit file I would have called the police instantly. I didn't even know what a credit file is untill a couple of days ago. I didn't want to get involved with the police as I thought 'Oh well, It's just a bank account, I know I haven't done anything wrong so I'll just open a new one when I'm older.'
Now I know this isn't the case. So I'm sorry If I don't seem genuine, but well If you're not going to help me then don't reply to the thread...0 -
