Have earnings and benefits gone up by the same % to cover the increases by all firms?

Just spin. According to Consumer Focus since 2008 retail gas prices have decreased by 2%, wholesale by 42%. About time the regulators grew some balls.
  • I'm not sure where I stand on this, on the one hand wholesale costs only make up a fraction of the total cost (in which case how can it be such a huge factor in prices?), on the other hand all this daft renewable stuff and smart meters have to paid for somehow(so the margin relative to the wholesale prices may be pretty low).

My hunch is this isn't as straight forward as people think it is, and I can't really join in the jumping up and down until I know some basic facts...
