British Gas hikes its prices again

BRITISH GAS customers will pay an average £82 a year extra for their energy after the company announced an inflation-busting price rise starting next month.

I'm not sure where I stand on this, on the one hand wholesale costs only make up a fraction of the total cost (in which case how can it be such a huge factor in prices?), on the other hand all this daft renewable stuff and smart meters have to paid for somehow(so the margin relative to the wholesale prices may be pretty low).
My hunch is this isn't as straight forward as people think it is, and I can't really join in the jumping up and down until I know some basic facts...Mixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0 -
