Poor reception @ home with so want iphone that is on O2.

  • I've always had excellent service from o2 on all my iPhones, including the first gen 2G iPhone.

A friend of mine wanted to move away from Three because her contract wasn't such a good deal as it approached the end, but once she threatened to move away, she did get offered a fantastic deal on a new Blackberry so she stayed with them and is happy she did so - but as other have said, it's only a great deal if you're getting the full service you are paying for. If you experience signal issues, it's going to cause you more stress than it's actually worth!

Use this to check coverage from all the major networks in your area:

Replace the [dot] with a . in the URL, this site won't let me post links because I'm new!

    Cheers,

Thanks everyone for your advice and comments. I googled Mobile reception and found a site that points you to the networks coverage signals. When we entered the 3 one it showed that on our street there is poor signal indoors. Also where my partner works a certain area shows poor signal too which matches exactly the experience he was getting with his now old 3 phone. He is now going to have an O2 iphone 4 now and we called them up and it's all very simple to move across..

    Thanks again everyone..

You may get good 02 reception on your phone at home, but can you get good 3G reception? Because if you want to use an iPhone that's what you're going to need to make the best of the data services. You didn't say what handset you are currently using on O2?
The online postcode checkers only give a broad idea, they are not property-specific.

  • supposedly 3 are the best for 3g coverage... but I guess is depends where you live. I never heard anything good about the 3 network, I don't know if they have improved though.

Can you disclose your source pleas?

  • Can you disclose your source pleas?

that's what's written on the 3 website, rated n 1 for iphone by YouGov.

and by looking at the coverage maps by all networks, 3 covers more parts of the country than any other network:think:

but i dont know if that translate in good service

Ah well, if it says that on the 3 website, then it must be true...

I have great signal and never drop with my iPhone 4 on O2. 3G is good enough. . I am usually using it when in hot spots or home.

Well it is to be fair. http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/ofcoms-3g-coverage-maps-o2-embarrassed-49302921/

Ofcom released the coverage maps last year mind, but they showed O2 as the worst 3G network.

However now Orange, Three and T-Mobile have agreements to use masts as they formed a company for this so they should be much better than indicated.

I use GiffGaff and T-Mobile, and I'd say T-Mobile is the better around my area- as the coverage map shows- O2 have a gap to the west of us.

I use tmobile and giffgaff too. I've noticed that the 3g signal is more consistent on t-mobile but the download speed on my giffgaff sim is faster than tmobile. I imagine is because tmobile gave me 12 months of free internet (im on payg) and they capped my speed
