Need help choosing new phone (upgrade).
I've been told today that I'm eligible for a new phone upgrade, which I'll take as my old Nokia 5800 Xpress music has been a bit faulty over the past 6 months.
I could also get another Nokia 5800 Xpress Comes with music, which I would be interested in purely for the free years worth of music downloads, as mine didn't have that service. The only thing is I'm not sure if I would want that model for another 18 months again.
I would like a touch screen one, that I will not have to pay anything extra for, so out of the free ones offered, its either the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro, Samsung Galaxy Apollo, HTC g2 Touch, or Nokia C7.
I would like the HTC desire, but don't want to spend £60 upfront for it. I may be able to negotiate a deal though.
Any ideas as to what would be a good choice please?

I suggest you get a Noika iPhone running Android 2.2 and get the Blackberry Internet Service add-on.If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

Sounds ideal. Unfortunately no such option for me.

Who are you with at the moment?
I am looking too, I wanted the X10 Mini but am hearing bad reports about the battery life. Have you asked about the HTC HD Mini?Gone ... or have I?0 -
I'm with T-mobile.
If I could afford it I would have gone for an Iphone 4, but the cheapest deal is £29 upfront and then £45 a month for 2 years which is too expensive.
I currently pay £29.79, for unlimited texts, internet, and 800 mins of calls.
I looked at the x10 mini, but the user reviews about battery life, and freezing put me off. Also the screen is a tad small. If the operating system were upgraded to the new Android 2.2 I would consider, as that should resolve some issues.
If not, I would like the Nokia N8 which looks really good, although its £5 dearer than what I'm paying now, and not showing as an available upgrade for me. Guess I'll have to speak to T-mobile and see what they can offer.
The other two serious contenders would be the Samsung Galaxy Apollo, as it has excellent reviews, or the HTC G2 touch, which also looks very good.
Its really hard to choose between these phones. The only thing would be to make sure that they have the most up to date os, and check the features, and reviews.
What are your thoughts on the other choices?0 -
The deals for the Nokia N8 and Galaxy S look very expensive on the t-mobile site. I would personally go to phones4u or CPW and get the upgrade done from there.0

For the N8, you get 900 call mins, unlimited internet, 500 texts, plus a flexible booster (from which you can choose unlimited texts, calls to landlines etc). I can't find it on phones4u. I'm after one with a similar plan to my own, and its not a bad deal, although I'll see what T-mobile can offer (as a loyal customer).
I mean't the Galaxy Apollo (sorry edited my original post). Yes, £120 upfront is too expensive for me.0 -
This is so hard to choose. The HTC Hero (with t-mobile called G2 touch) looks fantastic, but has an upfront cost of £10.0

What about the HTC HD Mini? It gets good reviews and is not as small as the X10 mini.
What do you actually use the phone for? I wanted an iphone, but then realised I would only use 25% of it's functions (probably less).Gone ... or have I?0 -
I use my current phone for calls, texts, playing music, taking photos/vids, browsing the internet, playing games, so I need a good all-rounder.
The HTC HD mini looked good, but I was put off by it having windows 6.5.3. It has some good reviews, but I need a faster os that will multi-task as I have had enough of phones freezing when doing so. I also want a bigger screen if poss.
I also download loads of apps from Ovi store, and it doesn't look like there are too many for this os. So my preference would be for a phone running the latest symbian or android.
I've just had another look on the t-mobile site, and I've seen some good deals they are offering to new customers on the N8 ( £35 month 900 mins, 500 texts, unlimited internet, plus free flexible booster), Galaxy S (£35 month 1200 mins, 500 texts, unlimited internet, Flexible booster), and HTC desire (£30 month 600 mins, 500 texts, unlimited internet, flexible booster).
I would probably take unlimited calls to landlines as my flexible booster. Therefore eliminating the need to pay £7 to virgin (my phone/broadband provider) for the same thing.
I just need to speak to t-mobile about these deals, as they are different (better imo) from what they are offering for upgrade.

A Nokia crossed with an iPhone running Android and BIS? Wow, never heard of that one :rotfl:
I have an iPhone 4, I love it and would recommend it every time
The HTC Desire is a fab phone.
A word of advice: Don't get a Samsung phone, ever!
BlackBerry make pretty good phones too
Target Save £1k
So far £625/£1000 :j0
