Mainly because it's too scary to look at! lol No seriously though it's just because it's a secured debt and we want to clear off all our unsecured debts first and then start saving up the money to pay off the car loan. You have to have the car for at least 2 years (We're only 3 months in lol) before they'll let you settle it so once everything else is out of the way we can look to pay that off. At the moment we're just aiming to be 'unsecured debt' free and repairing our credit report. Want to concentrate on the tiddlers before going after the big fish.. lol. Once the car loan is paid off though we will be completely debt free as we don't have a mortgage. :beer:Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

I can totally understand you doing it that way, we started off the same way by paying off all the smaller debts it was good seeing them go quickly, now we are left with our big debts - 3 cc's, a car loan and our interest free sofas(which is a small debt but as it is 0% I am in no hurry to pay it off quickly). Just one thing what did they secure the car loan on if not property?

Was planning on paying on the 5th when the child benefit went in... wondering if that'll be too late if I pay by electron over the phone? Hmmm..... it should clear in 2 days shouldn't it? I always thought card payments were instantaneous! Oh well. Either way a week on tuesday is D-day for blackhorse..... going to take that pony to the knackers yard.

Contents insurance - £4.47 (Was £8.91 and this was the cheapest we could find anywhere.)
Our mobiles - Currently £0 as negotiated reduced line rental and free credit to renew our contracts But will probably be about £30 when our credit has run out.
Food - £150
Petrol - £50

Dh capital one debt (with DCA) - £580 currently not paying anything but looking to pay £10 a month til we can afford to clear it in one go.)
Total Debt - 11587.90
Total outgoings - £1284.26 (without mobiles)
Spare - £246.54 which includes saving as much as possible towards debts, odd treats and misc things that come up during the month. Although how much we're actually left with varies from month to month.
The situation -
Expecting our 2nd baby in less than 8 weeks. Once she's born the tax credits will go up as will child benefit, but so will the food costs with the extra nappies, formula etc. Car tax is one of those things I just deal with the month it's due *slap on wrists* but is £64 every 6 months. We very very rarely buy clothes and I cut my own hair. If I'm missing anything just say and I'll tell you what we spend on it. We are currently saving hard to try and pay off debts so are on a tight budget just spending as little as possible and saving the rest towards debts.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Just when you're getting everything sorted something comes and throws crap at you.
Steve recieved a letter today from 'Global debt recovery' sent to his mum's address...saying that Steve owes Lloyds Tsb £515.21.
He had a lloyds bank account up until this time last year when we switched banks and he cancelled it without anything owing on it. The only other debt we know about and are waiting for a dca to contact us about is capital one so god knows where this one has come from. 2 of his debts have been paid off recently including 1 to a DCA so these guys could be chancers, especially as it was sent to old address even though all our creditors know our new address.. He thinks it could possibly be a mastercard that he had back when he was 18 which he'd forgotten about, and if that's the case the debt is more than likely going to be statute barred as it was 10 yrs ago! Going to send them the standard letter stating that he doesn't acknowledge the debt and for them to prove he owes it etc etc etc. I'm just glad this is happening now when we're wiser to the tactics that the DCA's play.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Called my work to find out how much I'm getting tomorrow (my payday) and I was expecting £500 and my manager told me I'm only getting paid £320!!!!! I normally get £550 a month and the first 6 weeks of maternity pay is at 90% so something's gone seriously wrong somewhere but this is the last thing I need just before christmas!!!!!!!!
Called payroll. Basically they gave me a load of bullcrap about how maternity pay is paid from the sunday after you leave, and as my time off OFFICIALLY started on the Monday I was 29 weeks my SMP didn't start until the 12th, and then because of how their payroll works with dates etc I ended up only getting 2 weeks worth of pay for the whole of november plus the 3 normal days I did on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd. But next month I'm going to be getting 5 weeks worth of pay and will get £545, which is a fat lot of good as I won't get paid til the 5th Jan and it's christmas!!!
Why the hell didn't they tell me before I left that that was going to happen?????? I've essentially lost £200 because of a technicality and we're now going to be completely screwed over christmas. I can't stop crying and am so stressed this can't be good for the baby. Luckily we have a little bit of savings, around £140 which was supposed to be going towards paying my mothercare card but we're just going to have to use that to survive til January.
Why does it always happen at christmas and when we're doing so well money wise? Just when things were going os well money wise something happens to screw it all up again. I need a really strong drink but can't even do that!!!!!! Called Steve at work in tears and he calmed me down a bit by making me see that at least we have some savings we can use and next month we can just put some extra away. Argh stress!!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
