  • Hi Sarah
Im a regular reader too, ive also read your diary from page one. I think you've done amazingly on your debt free journey...you (and ste) pulled out all the stops and worked extremely hard to get to where you are today. When you actually stop and think, you've come so far...pregnancy, labour ( a mean feat in itself i think others will agree lol) PND, loss of your job, ste's driving lessons/tests (very stressful), living a very frugal lifestyle and all the while looking after Ash and K also.

I see no harm in selling the base on after you have lovingly saved its poor little life ;)

Take care and good luck for the future.

Oh and I'm now the proud owner of a bass.... :D Not the one I bought.. th eone off freecycle! It need some TLC so I'm going to have it as my little 'project' and do it up and then either keep it or sell it on. lol..... Can't wait for pinky to turn up though!! :D

I think the above speaks for itself! And quite frankly, fair play to her if she does it up and sells it. The guy who Freecycle'd it could have easily done that himself if he had the inclination - if IA wants to spend her own time and money to restore something, and someone else will get some joy out of it, then so be it.

I presume you would be referring to me when you say this (?)
I have as much "right" as IA and indeed any other person to give my opinion, whether you agree with it or not on here. After all, this is a "public forum".
I have read this diary from front cover to back and her "intentions" as you put it were made very public from the beginning of the claiming of the bass. That was to do it up and sell it. I havent questioned her personality or even judged her as you are all saying. I pointed out something I felt from not just one comment IA made about selling it. There was no question that it "might" be sold. I questioned it, she responded. End of.

I wasnt actually referring to you, NoDebt, but if the cap fits....... :D

If, as you say, you have read IA's diary, you should know what kind of person she is.

There was never a clear intention to sell - I do believe she stated she would either keep it or sell it on.
Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches

IA is an honourable person. I think though when you are struggling with debt, the thought of being able to sell something is so tempting that you can't help but toy with any idea that comes up. Having said that I am positive that when IA is debtfree she will give to Freecycle to help others, and more than make up any benefit she has had from it.

Can I just add (and I dont want to drag this out) but how much of her own stuff has IA spent to get the out of debt? I think the answer is *a bl00dy lot*

This base was going to the landfill, regardless to whether she keeps it, sells it or gives it away freecycle has served its purpose.

To those who critized I think you need to just look at little more carefully into things and see the grey, not just the blank and white.

IA, whichever option you choose with this bass you deserve it :D

Sorry what I said was not meant to be a criticism.

Hi IA, good luck with doing up the guitar, I totally agree with tigtag02 here and I'm sure if any of us were looking for a bass you'd would kindly offer it to us.

The help and advice you'd passed on to fellow DFW's has been second to none and you always offer a kind word even when your having problems yourself.

Enjoy every minute of your bass hun and if you want to sell it, you sell it and put the money to good use x
