ia great about the citi card :T and barclays :T oh and dont let pnd stop you from being a childminder, i dont think you will have any problems :j0

I really am my own worst enemy. Every time I start getting excited and planning stuff about my childminding something starts digging at me saying that they won't register me because of the PND. I put a post asking for advice on the families etc board asking for advice and most of them were saying 'They won't register you' 'I wouldn't leave my kids with anyone who had PND' etc etc and it's making me wonder what the point of even trying is.
People are saying I'm going to fail before I've even started and they're right... why would you leave your children with some with PND and on anti depressants????

well i'm sure the fact that you have two happy, well-adjusted kids in a loving home will count as a massive plus point in your favour, and pnd isn't forever - who's to say even if they say no this time that you couldn't reapply (if the worst came to the worst, hypothetically) when you were ready to come off the ADs?
i'm sure all of this will be completely irrelevant and you'll be fine, but perhaps as a back-up plan? if it gives you any type of confidence boost at 19 i was the oldest counsellor in a team of three (totally new to the job) in an American summer camp looking after 12 6-9 year olds and I have no kids - those parents trusted me, and I have total faith that people will trust you with their children too!2007 Bronze Olympic Challenge: Total £1057.34 :jDFW Nerd 269: Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0 -
You are being treated for PND, which in my mind is slightly different than having PND. Maybe its my play on words to try and make you feel better, but you have acknowledged a problem and you are being treated for it.
I would quite happily leave my child with someone who had two well adjusted and happy children, even if they were being treated for PND. As long as social services are happy with you and register you then no-one else should have a problem. If they do then its their tough luck, and their loss.
Don't forget when you are a childminder, you will be interviewing the parents as much as them interviewing you.

Now just you wait a cotton picking minute young lady;)
I read that thread   There is helpful advice and IMHO that lot didnt qualify for it!!
I dont have experiences of PND or chilminding registrations BUT you must go for it - Sar, this thread PROVES that you are a *glass half full* gal and dont let anyone else tell you otherwise.
Ok - you have PND. Are you a bad mother? Were you crap at your job in the nursery? I dont know you per say Sar but I know the answer to those two questions.
My DD's have both had childminders and what is important to me is that they are in a safe and loving enviroment not unlike the one we offer them when we are not out earning a crust. THAT, my dear, you CAN provide:)

I have to completely echo what the last 2 poster have said, as you know i haven't been on this site long. I spent my first 2 hours reading your thread which was the starting block for me, it gave me inspiration and the motivation i need!
Your not a bad mother and i am very sure if anything you try harder than ever now you know you have PND just to prove you can beat it and you are strong.
Stop worrying so much, in all the posts i have read yours are of a very strong motivated woman who knows what she wants.
One good thing though, although you are constantly scrutinising yourself, it did not stop you applying! My point proved!!!:pYou can touch the dust but please don't write in it !
Would you like to speak to the man in charge, or the woman who knows whats happening?0 -
Hey up I-A, don't take this the wrong way, and I am sorry if you said this earlier on in your thread, but I presume you have told those that are interviewing you that you are having treatment for PND? I-A I am a registered childminder and have had depression. Its just like any other job they aren't allowed to discriminate against you. If they said they wouldn't register you because of this that is discrimination. As far as I'm aware they only ask your doctor if there's anything that should stop you childminding, by this they would mean phsycotic illnesses. Your doctor probably wont even mention this.
You are doing a great job of looking after your children despite this depression and I'm sure your doctor can see that, don't worry, I remember the whold registration process being very daunting but its not as bad as you think when you first start out. When it comes to policies and procedures if you need any help I dont mind at all, its very much a case of learning by your mistakes though and you quickly pick things up. I was very soft when it came to contracts etc but I soon learned how much some people take advantage.

Sorry, I'm talking bollox (again). I think it will be similar to my vetting whereby they ask you to sign a piece of paper stating that you have no objection to them viewing your medical records - which of course means, they may not neccesarily look at or consult anyone about your medical records. Well done on the ebay stuff IA, fab news that you have enough now to pay barclaycard ... we are hoping to have our barclaycard paid off next month. As for the PND, shouldn't be a problem. I know childminders, teachers and nursery workers who have had PND with their own kids and they are fine to work xxxxOlympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015
