IA- Bare in mind you have to count your own kids in the total and you only used to be allowed to look after a maximum of 3 under 5 year olds.

Don't worry I know :) Luckily we live literally around the corner from 2 first schools and a middle school so would be really convinient for before and after school :)

I've gotta ask IA, are you truly ready to forsake MSE for childminding :D , how are you going to cope not being here all day whilst you have more little ones running around, I find my full time job gets totally in the way of my MSE addiction :rotfl:

BTW I'm off sick at the mo so I get a bit more sneaky MSE'ing in.

    Good luck with it all.

All the information you need on working out your deductions for wear and tear, gas, rent, electric etc will all be detailed in the booklets you'll get when you start.

The NCMA accounts book is really great too, just fill it in week by week, then transfer the totals to the monthly page, then onto the yearly one which gives your the figure you need to enter on your self assesment tax form...just remember to keep any recipts for anything and everything and list everything you buy or spend that's related to childminding. (you get your first one free in your NCMA tool kit when you register)

Average fee here is around £3.00 an hour, I charged £3.50 though as I was doing very early starts some mornings (6am  to cover shift patterns).

Hope it all works out for you.

Well K's had her 2nd jabs and is spark out on the sofa as we speak. Bless her heart. Hopefully she won't be too bad when she wakes up.
    The joys of parenthood eh?

Had a look at the surestart website for an idea of how much local childminders charge and around here it's anywhere from £2.50 to £5 an hour depending on the times etc. Obviously it's not too bad if you take into account that you charge per child so say if I charged £3.50 an hour during the week and had 3 children (1 under 3 and 2 over) you'd be looking at £10.50 an hour... then if you had those 3 6 hrs a day 5 days a week that'd be £315 a week... or £1365 before tax. Obviously it's all numbers and will depend on
a: if I get registered in the first place
b: How many children I can have
c: how many children I get!

Obviously you could charge more for weekends too and you've got discounts for siblings etc so will have to have a look into it.

Listen to me getting ahead of myself.... I'm just really excited! I'm the type of person who hates waiting and always wants to be doing everything NOW.

IA you are so organised, I've been sitting on here all day on the internet trying to muster the enthusiasm to write a 2000 word essay. I've done a measily 200 words. You make me exhausted! Think I'll go for a lie down then think about the other 1800 words tomorrow!!

I can't think of anything else for you list, when will you know about the medical and ofsted checks?
