I agree, enjoy your meal, have fun with your friends and stop feeling so guilty!

There has to be a balance between becoming debt free and still having a life, otherwise you will get disheartened and more likely to give up.

  • Have a fab time this afternoon IA, you definitely deserve it! I know the freezer has been a bit of a pain, but if you look on the bright side, because of your budgeting abilities you've been able to afford it straight off, without putting it on a credit card, and as it's a chest freezer you can go all OS and start batch making meals for pennies! You can ask on the OS board for advice on anything, and I'm fairly sure a new, untouched, empty chest freezer is the OS Holy Grail (no offence intended, I love the people on OS) - they'll be full of ideas on what you can cook that makes 20 portions (to freeze, of course) and costs 2 quid!

Today is also the end of week 3 of our april money budget/debt challenge thingy and we spent £34.47 this week meaning we saved £27.35 on our original budget but for some reason it doesn't work out right near the end of the month... we write down everything we spend and yet the 'budget' never seems to stay the same as what it was at the start of the month... can anyone see where we're going wrong??? I have no idea!!!
Are you counting the day you are on, eg if it's monday are you inlcuding that day or forgetting and dividing by tuesday onwards till next tweeks budget. If you overspend one day what do you do with the rest of the weeks budget?

Just a quick thought while i do anything to get out of completing my I.C.T essay but have you thought about doing Matched Betting? You seem so good with figures etc that i'm sure you'd get the hang of it (I don't want to even attempt it i'm dyslexic especially in Maths so i probably would end up betting my entire life savings!) I've seen SouthernScoucer explaining it to people-might be worth a try?

Well what I tend to do is check the bank about midday because I know if Ste needed to get any money out he would have already done so and I don't include that day in the budget because I know Ste would have enough money...
If we over spend one day then we try and make it up on the rest of the days in the week but we add everything up at the end of the week and subtract it from the weeks budget...

Well we're back.. had a brill time and Ash even got into the wacky warehouse for free (I used to work there and the big boss wasn't in so they let me off.. lol.). We've not long got back and checked our ebay auction.. our fridge went for 99p (lol.. but at least we won't have to pay the council £20 to come and collect it and we'll be shot of it!)... and the cd player finished on £31. So not quite enough to cover the new freezer but at least we can pay our ebay fees and put the rest in the dotty p's fund.

Edit - have just paid our fees and withdrawn the rest of the money from paypal... £25.55 Not bad for stuff that's broken and no use to us!

Gald you had a nice day - sometimes its good to get out and do something different.

Wish the e-bay items could have brought you more, but hey it's something, and as you say you only would have had to pay the council to come and collect it. £20 - that's a bit steep. Our council collects up to 5 items for £10.

and do you double check if Ste has taken the money that day, eg my bank shows transactions out of cash machine for that day. Very useful for b*ll*cking my husband about using fee charging machines  ;) .

Hard to think what's happening without knowing figures, how much are yu working out being out by?

On the positive side (and I feel there must be for everything!)
I got to meet you and become your friend (I hope?)
