Congratulations, Hypno - moving this year was hard enough for me, but it didn't have the associations that yours does, it must be so difficult. And wow to a skip - you're going to have so much space at the new house, once you're in. I'm so glad you're getting all this done before you go, you'll settle in so much more quickly.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Well done Hypno on recognising the swings. It is to be expected.Moving house under "normal" circumstances can be an emotional thing but you have "background stuff" added in to cope with. I did not leave my house straight away and I did all of the things that you have been doing (redecorate, garden, declutter) but it was still hard when it was time to pack everything up and really make decisions about what to leave behind. Once I got stuck in it was very therapeutic. Embrace the memories that go with each object that you assess (I like the idea of would you take it to Australia) and remember that those memories can never be taken away - even if the material part of it is gone.
I have to say that for me the hardest and yet the most empowering moments were that last few minutes when the house was completely empty and I walked around (alone) checking that all of the windows were closed and the doors were locked and remembering that moment when I moved in just before the removal van arrived. Be prepared for that moment but I promise you as hard as it is it will allow you to walk away from the house taking only the best of memories with you.
How exciting that you feel so so so at home in the new house. That is the best feeling. Only two weeks to go YAY.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Thanks guys - I have just called one of the charity shops to ask if they can arrange to come and collect the many bags of stuff we are sorting - will be much easier than me doing endless trips out in the snow, if they can send a volunteer with a van.
She is going to ring me back tomorrow, hopefully with a date that suits.....which will be good.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
