Here is a question to you, guys. And it is:

"Which one do you think is a better film, Black Swan or The King's Speech? And which one will get the Oscar for best picture?"

I think that Black Swan was a netter film but The King's Speech will still get the Oscar. Go figure!

Not seen Black Swan yet but really want to. I guess it's a meatier story, more drama and more complicated, so probably deserves the Oscar, but I think you're probably right FW and The King will win.

As an aside, I do love Colin "darcy" Firth. Watched Bridget Jones again the other night and ::heartpuls him in that :D

Every year I say I'd like to have seen all the Oscar nominated films so I can make my own judgement. Maybe next year! Have a good weekend all :)
  • Not sure if you have seen how Mr T has changed the restaurant vouchers. From Feb they changed it that most of them are now named on your vouchers so you have to pick the restaurant when you order rather than get generic ones. For us its easy as we head to Prezzos each time as we have 2 excellent ones nearby but I know you go to a few different types.

Haven't seen it. Or Black Swan. Or just about any other film made in the last 15 years. But then I am a bit odd :rotfl:

It is only in the last few months (oddly enough, coinciding with finding myself a life!) that I have started going to the cinema - before that it was a once in a blue moon thing.....

Had a fab time last night - the girls were on fine form, and there will be many hangovers this morning :o Dinner was superb, if I do say so myself, and I am just so lucky to have such fantastic friends :D

Dishwasher is on for the second time......I am about to make another coffee...then will finish clearing up. Need to at least give the impression of being alive ready to teach in a couple of hours, so much work needed there......then off to the football, and P is coming over after the match to hopefully meet the guys, have a few post match bevvies, and will stay over.....which I am really looking forward to. She has not yet seen my new house, and it seems ages since I have seen her.

So, first things first - more coffee.

Have a good one, whatever you do xxx

I think that Kings Speech will do both :D

I loved it, really and truly and had seen it before there was masses of hype about it. Colin Firth deserves best actor for his performance as I felt like I was stuttering with him every step of the way. It was beautifully shot as well and didn't have any duff notes at all.

Black Swan on the other hand....well directed, beautiful cinematography and Natalie Portman was superb with the guff script she was given, but it's not best picture. It's a trashy psychological horror with money!

    Just my tuppence worth :D

I too thought Kings Speech was well acted......and I do love Colin Firth (although prefer him in more Phwoarrrr type roles :o), but it just lacked something for me - I didn't have to really think about it when I was watching it, whereas with Black Swan, I did have to get my braincell working, and didn't know how the film was going to end, so had to keep focused....

I have a life - it's just not a very exciting one :rotfl:.

OH hates the cinema and I can't go during the week as I never know if I'll be home in time (and am liable to fall asleep :o). I do go if I stay with a friend near the office - but that is a proper night out - old 30's style cinema with pre-theatre dinner in their restaurant then really comfy chairs and a bar IN the cinema. That's my kinda place :D
