hope you had a good ski and blew away the cobwebs.0 -
I did have a good ski, thanks taxi. But the fuzzy head is still hanging about
Still, it is nothing that won't sort itself out over time so it will be fine!

Hi hypno and everyone:D
Hope your week is getting better hypno - i know that you have alot on and I have been dipping in reading when i can just not posting much due to one thing or another. Anywho's was wondering if you or any of the other runners on here could give me some advice please
I am going to apply to do the London Marathon - don't even know how to apply- and am totally not a runner but this is one of those things I have always wanted to do and really, there is only me stopping myself from achieving this. *gives self a good talking to
*So I'd like help on what is the best way to start training - I have seen lots of books mentioned on various threads but as I have read yours for a while and know you have done quite a few marathons thought i would ask here first if thats ok?
Is also great to hear of all the socialising you are enjoying now - I find reading about how far you have come is really inspirationalCC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000 -
Re the marathon - you need to apply shortly after the next race, which is mid April - if you look on the Virgin London Marathon website nearer the time, it will give you details - be warned, though, there is only a window of a couple of days to get into the ballot system before it closes so you need to be on the ball.
Even then, you only have a 1 in 7 (I think) chance of getting in, it is so popular.
You can "buy" a charity place, but these require you to raise a specified amount of money - the one I did 2 years ago required me to raise £1600 and I had to sign a contract to say that I would do this. In this economic climate, that is a tough ask, and although I managed to raise £4000 in total, I did find it was an added pressure, and one I am glad not to have this year!
There are other big marathons that don't have the same ballot - Edinburgh is every May and is just "first come first served" so could be a good alternative.
As for starting out - well, there are many schools of thought on this one. It depends on your level of fitness etc. I've never followed anything out of a book, but you could take out one of the "3 issues for £1" runners world magazine offers (go to the runners world website and click on the offer) and they are bound to have some sort of "get started here" guide. I am a bit of a believer in just getting out there, do what you can, and make a note of how far you went......and make sure you go a little further next time, and a little further the time after that.
Good luck!
Fuzzy head is still in existance, but was temporarily banished by a lovely lunch and a big glass of wine.....which just goes to show that it is stress/tension that is causing it, rather than anything else.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hello your Royal Fuzzy-headedness!
Sorry to hear it's still fuzzy though.
We save money monthly towards car expenses too - as we have two cars now it is a bit of an essential otherwise we'd find ourselves being taken by surprise when insurances etc come due. Stress and tension are a pain- literally. My head is quite clear today after finishing antibiotics and getting a snore free sleep..i was still up late, but wasn't disturbed so that was great as it was quality sleep for a change.
I actually have energy- totally unheard of
Hope it gets sorted soon- apparently my massage services have been offered virtually on Georgeuk's thread so if you are in needBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Evening - have been for a run - very very cold!
So to offset that, I have booked a fortnight on a campsite (mobile home though) in the South of France in August.
Something fabby and very MSE to look forward to......am going with a friend and her two as well, so lots of laughter and fun ahead.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
