I bought 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad' self-help finance book v cheap in a charity shop and it's selling for £6.50 as I type - and counting with loads of people (12!)watching

Self help and financial books sell well but they have to be the top selling books rather than every self-help that author has published...

Goodhouse Keeping book sell pretty well by the looks of past sales on ebay. I was in a charity shop today and someone came in with a trolley load of cookery books, i would have loved to look through them all...

I wish I could get fresh herbs (you know, mint, rosemary etc from someone's garden type thing) on E-bay - as long as it wasn't too much I'd pay for that rather than the supermarket dry stuff.

I saw a programme about that, a guy was buying antiques in small French towns and reselling them on ebay and making a fantastic profit. I would suggest you look for things that you have some prior knowledge of tho, as buying antiques blind could be costly and confusing.

I could certyainly do that during the summer, but they would not be in very good condition by the time they arrived.

Not only that but supermarket's (at least the larger ones) usually do fresh herbs which are in good condition. Although they're a bit expensive the cost of posage would make ebay derived ones even worse.

You might also consider that some herbs are perfectly OK dry: Thyme and Rosemary for example.

Oregano, marjoram, mint and tarragon are almost as good dry.

Dry basil is quite different from fresh and one should never be substituted for the other.

Corriander and parsley are utterly useless when dried.

BTW, you can grow most herbs quite happily in a pot on the windowsill.

  • Ok, how about this then, I bought 2 strings of old Xmas lights at a boot fair towards end of last year.

    They cost me 10p each.

They had bakelite bits that the bulbs screwed into and also the old style plugs still attached. I was unable to test them due to the plugs, I was completely honest about this in the listing so sold as seen if you like, took a few nice close up piccys.

Listed them for 7 days final selling price was £58.20 for set with smaller bulbs and £82.00 for the slightly larger sets. A massive profit and paid for all my Xmas food and drink.
