Look out for Terry Pratchett or JK Rowling first editions.

    Tips:

    Make sure they're definitely firsts
Make sure they're not book club editions
Don't bother with the newer Pratchetts... look for really old ones from the 80s

Here's a nice little find, if you're lucky...

Same goes with the earlier Harry Potter books - rare and more valuable than the newer ones!

I sold a hardback 2nd edition illustrated Eric a while back, think I got £30 for it. Picked it up in a charity shop for about £5. For some reason, the standard paperback copies of Eric seem to sell easily on ebay.

Here's a ropey copy of the one you have:

For some reason there are hardly any valuable Pratchetts being sold on ebay right now... I suppose it's a seller's market!

Search ebay for completed listings for New Naturalist books. Even the newer ones go for £100 for some reason! I bought one off ebay with the idea of relisting it, advertised as a 1977 1st edition. When i got it it was a 1989 reprint of the 1977 edition. Like an idiot, i had already posted positive feedback. Given the chance i would have put 'not as described'. It didn't cost much, but AFAIK it's pretty worthless on ebay atm.

I bought a Dora the Explorer DVD (one of those promo ones out of the newspaper) for 20p in a charity shop and sold it a few days ago... for £5.50  :rotfl: Not exactly a fortune but a pretty good mark-up!! Will be keeping an eye out for any more :D

This is encouraging, I might make a list and keep it with me for my shopping trips...

  • I've been ebaying for a couple of years and always been surprised at the way things sell, Something you might expect to sell well sometimes barely gets a bid and other things that I wonder about even listing take off and make loads. However THE MOST i've sold something for was a set of pink leather baby reins (harness complete with pram attachments) These were about 20 years old and they sold for £57

I did look at the buyers previous purchases after I'd sent them and discovered that the buyer had a adult baby fetish thing going on (adult nappies, Adult rompers & baby rubber pants, giant dummies) each to thier own, I say but I did feel strange knowing where they had gone.
