New luxury car! Any tips

Take a test drive in an XJ6 and be very pleasantly surprised. Lightweight body, looks like the "8" and has all the toys but the running costs of a 5 Series. If you don't like that, then buy the 5 Series.0

Hi, I have around £10-13k to spend on a new car.
I want something that will turn heads and be a pleasure to draw in luxury.
Might I suggest an S type Jaguar 2.7d which is still instantly recognised as a Jaguar unlike the new XF which has basically the same running gear.
Comfortable, economical and still turns a few heads.
And you have enough cash to buy my 19k mile FJMDSH black 55 plate Sport

To drive there's nothing like them. The last Jaguar that no one needs to be told what it is.0 -
Hi, I have around £10-13k to spend on a new car.

The following cars below are what I have in mind and my concerns in brackets about them. Any advice here would be greatly appreciated especially with regards to running costs and reliabilty.
Chrysler 300c (worried about running costs, replacement parts, servicing).
Mercedes C or E class
BMW 3 or 5 series (dont seem to get a lot for your money)
Jaguar X or S type (running costs).
Thanks
Of these only the 300c has any chance of turning heads in the way you want;).
TBH this is a pretty unadventurous list.0 -
I went for a BMW 730d SE
It is a stunning car to drive and is way ahead of the 5 and 3 series for prestige in my opinion.
You can also get great deals on them. I drive a 4 year old car that retailed at £65k and I paid £15k for it...
In a couple of years I will probably get another one

True. Still nice cars though.vikingaero wrote: »The Phaeton is only noticed by petrolheads.
If you want something almost unique what about a Chevrolet Suburban (or Tahoe) EXT or a GMC Yukon XL Denali? All 3 are the same car afaik. You'll find one a few years old in budget. Can't get them here, they're all individually imported from the US, and I have seen about 3 in my life.
However they only do something ridiculous like 18mpg or less so maybe not...0 -
Porsche 928 series 4, within your budget. Nice big fat V8, automatic, cruise control, electric seats, the lot. Timeless design, still pretty quick, utterly reliable. Will turn heads every day.0

By Joe I think I've got it! Very different, pretty rare, ultimate comfort and luxury, a fine diesel engine straight out of the Jag S Type and very nearly solid depreciation.
What could it be...? Why the Citroen C6 of course. Buy it!
